I find most cellphone games are pay to win.
I guess you can say I kind of cheat on multiplayer cell phone gsmes lol I run a android OS on my PC and log into my Google account i use real controls on my games vs a touchscreen it gives me a big advantage over. Touchscreen user.

I'm not into cell or tablet games. I have bad vision & I find the small screens hard to see the details. I also don't care for the touch screen & much prefer actual game controls or a physical keyboard. I also do NOT like the idea of being forced to play games regularly at certain times on certain days & I do NOT wanna be pushed into spending real money to get needed sh!t in the game. I much rather just buy the game & only pay with real money 1ce & then be able to just play it whenever the hell I want

t’s ridiculous and maybe if people played more PC and console games, maybe people wouldn’t have phone addictions. :D

People game with the tech they have and understand. Consoles caught on partly because they were cheaper than proper computers and not much harder to hook up and use than a VCR (when I was a kid, we called NES cartridges "tapes" even though they weren't actual tape cassettes).

Since a lot of people have phones, but not necessarily consoles or PCs, it's convenient for them to play games on their phones. Sure, most mobile games are crap, but that's not a problem with mobile games; that's just Sturgeon's Law: 90% of all media is crap.

For my part, I avoid mobile gaming because using a smartphone or a mobile console like the 3DS or PS Vita sounds like a great way to get RSI. Once that happens, I'd have to stop using Emacs and remember how to use vi again, which would be annoying. :)

I used to play the free basic games on phones or tablets, free apps.

I don't anymore. like you, i prefer games for consoles. I use my phone to watch youtube videos, music, contact, taking pics and will use the google sat nav if needed. That's it. Not games or gambling

I hate how , they want people to download extra for additional features.
It's a money making scam! plus they try to encourage addictive behaviours, like paying out for downloads.

Basic games, from my childhood like snake was ok but i remember it was basic and would freeze after a while.

I play the classic remake of the nintendo 64, that they released a few years back, with the classic games downloaded, an xbox360 ( old school i know) that's not connected to the internet nor have membership. And my nintendo 3ds

I mostly use my phone to check email, browse the net, look up game guides while playing the game, text, make calls, listen to music, occasionally watch porn(like when I'm not able to be alone in our bedroom much cuz my desktop is in there & my girlfriend is asleep while I'm awake).

I still have my Nintendo 64 & it's the system I play the most. My Super Nintendo cr@pped out & I bought a knockoff due system that plays Super & NES/original Nintendo games. My cousin gave me his Sega Genesis when I was in high-school. My friend gave me his Play Station 2 when he was moving but it started having problems a couple years ago so we hooked up my girlfriend's one. She also has an xBox 360, xBox One, & Play Station 3. I never played her PS3 & I mostly play the One when I'm playing games with her. I played the 360 a bit but it's never been hooked to the net since we moved in together 7 & a half years ago. We moved half a year ago & the only systems that are hooked up are her One & PS3 but we plan to hook up the 360 in the next few days.

I remember a decade or so back thinking how cool mobile games could become. It's a shame the industry realised that a continuously-present device that sends out sound notifications that most people are too stupid to disable is a perfect vector for gambling and social pressuring.

Emulation is still real, it's just a shame that most controllers have awful d-pads which disqualifies them immediately for emulation purposes. I remember having an Xperia Play back in the day and I wish a similar thing existed now, a phone with a slide-out controller for emulation; it really was like a phone crossed with a PSP and not awkward to use for that purpose, unlike modern phones.

I’m nearly the same age as you and I have over 15 years of gaming experience. If I’m going to be traveling or am on the go, I’ll bring my Switch Lite or 2DS XL. Some boomers count Candy Crush and Pokemon GO as gaming and it bugs me.

A lot of video games that start out as mobile games have horrible controls and are for nothing more than to get you to participate in microtransactions. Besides that, there have been some fairly well put together ones that don't make the app impossible to play unless you spend extra money. There are also now video games that started on the PC and have been ported onto phones, like Terraria and Minecraft, and ones that you can spend money on upfront that are, unsurprisingly, definitely higher quality. As for mobile games not being "real video games", well, they are video games. Just often crappy ones.

I will admit that I have played Candy Crush on my PC which felt more real than Candy Crush on a phone.

I play some on my iPad. There are some games that require a bit of skill like black desert mobile, order and chaos (semi dead game now), crusaders of light, mobile legends and arena of valour are both moba the others are mmorpg. The problem is most if not all are pay 2 win.
