^ ah, cool. 8)
I’ve just looked up and my bookshelf and seen my copy of Devils by Dostoyevsky: novel form meditation on revolutionary terrorist group psychology by a former revolutionary terrorist.
And The Wretched of the Earth by Frantz Fanon: a Philosophical take on the psychology of terrorist/paramilitary violence by a Caribbean doctor who served as medic to the NLF during the Algerian War of Independence.

Oh okay. Well for my story, the hostage being one of them and the new recruit being tricked; a lot of the plot comes out of this, so I want to be able to make it work if possible, because if I throw that away, then I am throwing away half the plot pretty much that would come out of it as well. Is it possible to keep the test simulated therefore, like other works of fiction do?

^ yeah, well, if you’re making it central to the plot you’ll have to make it work convincingly. Just know your stuff and your options and your inspiration should take care of the rest :D

Oh okay thanks. But is it a plot hole then in the sense that the villains would not have a simulated test, and that therefore, the rest of the plot comes out of a plot hole?
