I heard of a guy who had his carpets professionally cleaned, and then, while they were still damp, walked on them in brand new socks. The dye transferred and he had to replace the carpets to quiet his wife.
Without socks my feet get too cold. I might get a pair of shoes sized to accommodate the really thick ones. Many places around here require one to leave icy or muddy footwear at the door, and it is handier to wear good socks than to carry slippers.

I buy medical socks for diabetic people. They're seamless, rubberless and very soft.

I know it's not kosher, but, in cool weather, nothing's better than socks in sandals, at least in my opinion. It keeps my feet comfortably warm (as opposed to baking hot, like they often get in shoes), yet the setup is airy enough to keep the socks dry. Even better: you can walk in sandy or gritty conditions without the sandals turning into "sand-alls" and rubbing all the skin off the bottom of your feet.. The only time it's not so ideal is when it's wet outside.

Has anybody noticed their socks feeling tighter over time? I've noticed tighter fitting socks lately.

Maybe they shrink in the dryer.

I can't stand wearing socks without shoes, but I also can't stand wearing shoes without socks.

Socks usually come off when I get home from work or going out. I've been known to wear flip flops/sandals in the winter, which I've gotten odd looks for.

In late high school, I did go through a phase where I got into the habit of not wearing socks and another in my 20s, just kind of happened but got past it.

Walking on cold flooring makes my feet feel like they're about to delaminate.
For winter I walk around the house in socks, much to my partner's displeasure.
I feel kind of weird when in town thinking "I'm wearing socks that are older than ALL of you!"
My podiatrist doesn't like that all summer I wear thongs (flip flops)

Personally I can't stand not wearing socks. They almost never come off except in the shower.
I also usually wear shoes inside but that's because I'm a klutz and have huge feet so I tend to walk into things.

I don't like *not* wearing socks, but hey, we're all different.

Long sleeved tops, on the other hand, drive me crazy.

Long sleeve shirts I can see that, I wear them in winter as it gets really cold here where I live but I wear short sleeves as long as I can.

Socks are both useful and troublesome for me. They have to be just the right material, thickness, and seams or it will be a rough day. My feet are very sensitive, and it seems more so with the development of neuropathy. Sometimes the neuropathy gives the illusion of a sock with a crease under my foot, again resulting in a rough day. Barefoot is preferred until something gets stuck to my foot. Flip flops work well, but I can not tolerate Crocs without socks. I have two go to socks that work for me.

Gold toe brand are the worst socks for me, like sandpaper. I tried on crocs a couple times, and they just didn't fit or feel right. I like Nike or Adidas sport slides but will wear flip flops.

As I mentioned above, I recall at one point in high school I got into this habit of not wearing socks for a time and same when I was about 26. Not sure if something like that is an aspie thing though

I find socks cozy and nice, but where I live summers are very hot so I don't wear socks at all all summer; even with sneakers, I just wear them without socks.

This is probably a preference thing but I'm sure being on the spectrum may play a role in this. I don't like to wearing socks, I always have issues with seams rubbing on my toes and just for the fact my feet feel chocked and at times itchy. In Warm weather I cannot wear socks at all. I go barefoot at home year round, even here in the Midwestern United states.

I usually wear Sebago boat shoes, leather flip flops or Nike Benassi slides, I've worn running shoes this way as well. I've known people who are actually quite the opposite, a friend I used to have couldn't stand to be without socks. I also have issues with other clothing as well,so it probably has to do with Aspergers.

Ya I stopped wearing socks right after I had my slip and fall because I had some socks on.I am with you,OP.
