As I live and breathe, yees, YESS!! I am fundamentally opposed to much of the way the American football league sports are operated [and don't even get me started on the monopolies in the US on merch]. Being who I am [progressive, moderate liberal] and living where I do [the confederate states of America], football used to be one of the only safe topics to discuss with locals here aside from weather. Now that weather conversations lead to politics here [global warming is apparently a commie/nazi/liberal conspiracy] and NFL conversations lead to politics [Black Lives do not Matter at all to most locals here] I avoid talking to anyone in public, which goes against my personality [but so do the locals here, thank the Maker more and more northerners and westerners are moving here every week for affordable rent and land {not to mention that most locals do not believe that the pandemic is actually real and won't socially distance or wear masks....}].
But yea, I am a lifelong New Orleans Saints fan by birth, and a Tennessee Titans fan by location. In the college leagues, I avidly support Louisiana State University Tigers [reigning champion, for now], Tulane University Green Wave, Oregon Ducks, and the Oregon State Beavers.
I support the latter two teams in not playing this season, playing during a pandemic is an awful idea but... money, I guess. Rich folks gotta make it all or let others die trying, that's the American way!! It annoys me when people complain about the high salaries; American wages are so stagnant and economic determinism so enshrined here: professional sports, music, and acting are some of the only means of class mobility left in the "land of opportunity" so just leave them alone. It is ridiculous that US cities must pay for stadiums when the economic impact of football arenas never comes close to repaying the cities for the taxpayers' expense.
I do find it incredibly ironic that sports always gets the "bread & circuses" comments, yet never Hollowood big budget films, or reality TV game shows, but to each one's own. I remember back when I was still on Fakebook, a friend [who enjoyed cosplay for sci-fi and fantasy films] commented that it was ridiculous how sports fans wear jerseys to games or at home... to which I had to comment, "Yeah, it's not like movie fans ever dress up as characters from films they love at movie premiers or parties...."
Since you did not use the qualifier, "AMERICAN football", are we also talking about the return of British Premier League play...? Wondering if Liverpool can pull it off again, but I'm not holding my breath... at least we never walk alone!!
