Used for 40 years to glue furniture. Ostensibly not to suture wounds.
Thats what might make me hesitate to use it. Not that it wouldnt work, but that it might put something into bloodstream.

But if its been used "one percent of the time" during that 40 years for the unintended first aid purpose and folks havent died like flies from it I guess that it must be okay.

I should have worded my statement more clearly.

It's been used for >40 years for that exact purpose, at this point it's safety is established. :nerdy:

Your rebuttal is under-informed. Other posters have personally attested to having it applied by medical professionals and sources have already been provided that attest to it's on-going use in the medical field.

The liquid bandage does work well for some types of small cuts. If the it's a crater, liquid bandage will fill it and make it waterproof. It will need to be redone frequently if the area is flexing or being used.

I might try superglue for a paper cut type. It didn't know that was a somewhat accepted idea.

The best home remedy I've ever found is duct taping a plantar wart. After about 2 weeks, the wart falls right off.

Yep! I'm surprised more people don't know that. But I guess the history of superglue isn't something that people tend to look up on a whim. And of course, these days it's used for so many other things, and there are more medical options for cuts, that it's become just an interesting bit of trivia.

I cleaned, dried, and superglued a tooth cavity once. It seals it off from the air so it doesn’t hurt and isn’t so sensitive to the cold. It lasted several weeks until I had to do it again.

I was beyond broke at the time and couldn’t afford to go to a dentist - no insurance, no cash or credit. It bought me pain free time until I Could go to a dentist.. But, sealing it off from the air doesn’t prevent decay from spreading. So, my tooth was a fair bit more damaged and then instead of being a $200 filling, it was a $2000 root canal & crown for that one tooth.. in hindsight, I should have borrowed the $200 earlier on. It would have been cheaper and healthier.

I guess the moral of the story is that it Does in fact work to help ward off dental pain, but should be considered as a very temporary solution until you can get to a dentist.

Super glue, or similar adhesives, are used in place of bandages or stitches quite a bit these days - and have been for ~50 years. Super glue was used to seal battlefield wounds during the Vietnam war to buy time to get injured soldiers to hospitals. They’d just spray super glue over massive wounds and it’d form a seal and prevent them from bleeding out too fast. I read about this when I googled what my options were with my tooth 8-10 years ago.

It works really well, I had a bandaid on it last night and most of today but was really annoying not being able to use the thumb on my right hand because of the bulky band aid, so I super glued it. Now it does not hurt at all, and will probly heal faster. I was a little mad yesterday and was kind of angrily putting dishes up(Idk I was just in a crappy mood) and so I was putting them away a bit roughly and in the process accidently cut my thumb on an apple slicer in the
drawer.

But yeah seems the super glue is way more effective than a band aid, like I can use my thumb fine, wheras with the band aid it still hurt and I was having much more limited use of it and I was despairing about the following days to come with a hurt thumb I can't use well on my right hand which is the main one I use. But super glue saved the day and now my thumb has full function even though it probably is not healed up quite yet.

Are you patenting your idea? do it fast

Not a great idea if you’re prone to cuts getting infected.

We know where to go now if we need a sacrificial virgin.

Why not? :?

Just like with any other bandage type, you clean/disinfect the wound first.

Adhesives are commonly used in place of bandages or stitches. This isn’t a dangerous thing to do.

Super glue has a long track record of fixing things that are broken. But what happens when that broken thing is you? Could you use super glue on yourself?

Perhaps.

Do I recommend using household super glue to close a wound instead of seeking proper medical treatment?

Not necessarily.

Have people been successfully using super glue to close up small cuts?

Yes.

From a practical living personal point of view, allow me to say this about the subject:
I do model trains.
I do model rockets.
I use X-acto knives, razor blades, razor saws, jewlers saws.
I have 4 different kinds of super glue on the hobby work table.
99% of the super glue gets used on models.
That other 1% ... :D

I paint warhammer miniatures so gotta have an X-acto knife, I haven't cut myself with it yet though. Came close today when I was scraping some mold lines and accidently put my finger on the sharp side of the blade, but I noticed in time. For the most part you use plastic glue to glue them together, but you need super glue if you have to paint any pieces separately before gluing them on, and of course for gluing things to the bases. So there was some on hand, my boyfriend has been painting them since he was like 12 so he has lots of supplies for it.
