Except for when they're Star Wars or superheroes or whatever. I never really got big into action figures so I don't know all the categories. I suppose my definition isn't perfect because the Spice Girls dolls that look like them in concert would 100% be action figures by my definition.

Unless they are. 8)

I believe you're right about the language surrounding 'boys dolls' changing to improve the ability to market them towards parents who viewed dolls as either immature, feminine or both. People love euphemisms when they want to not consider something.

My parents didn't treat them as feminine, just as immature so I never got any from the time I was >7. I've bought a bunch of plushies as an adult though. I don't know if they get along though, there's Noire's friends and the little ones she kills and eats if they might cuter than her. She also has clothes, a tiger costume and a coat. She's basically Roger from American Dad in feline form (although I've had her since before that show debuted).

I've mostly only ever had lego minifigs for the role of imaginary people. Mine are definitely like dolls (individualized, unique personalities, etc) but a lot of them are also toy soldiers (in uniforms, with muskets and pikes and swords). Yes, I can look at an army of ~60 people and tell you who's who because the faces are different as much as possible. There's several factions, I've got ~400 minifigs total. Developing these personalities slowly gave birth to some of my collection of stories/novel-ish thing. A lot of the nobles are related so most of them are cousins in one way or another, much of which I've got written out.

Some people might suggest this indicates I need friends. :nerdy:

That minifigure idea is amazing! I'm lucky - parents never saw plushies as immature exactly. I also had some 'action figures' growing up!
Society needs to to un-gender-lock toys and basically everything.

I think society needs to un-gender-lock a lot of things and also un-age-lock things which are considered to be 'for children'.

Most stuff for kids of about 7+ (including plushies, sorry not sorry, funeralxempire's parents) is fun for adults. Whether that's books or TV or movies.

I have to give up on a 16+ lego (too hard) and I'm currently enjoying watching the Horrible Histories series. I have Enid Blyton twice on my 'to read' list and if I enjoy the books/re-enjoy the books, I'm going to keep them. I might even get some Peter Pan stuff for my bedroom.

Of course it can only work one way. Some stuff for adults is ok to give to intelligent children: for eg Victorian classic novels or quiz shows on TV. But some stuff which is 'adult' is genuinely unsuitable for children, so it can't be free reign the other way.

And stuff for the under 5s? I find it really annoying. If someone else wants to engage in it, that's fine by me but the only thing I still enjoy from being that young which wasn't originally aimed at adults is Sesame Street. Apart from I guess fairy tales but I prefer the darker versions now

In my case...

Never.
I don't understand why is this.

Had a lot of it as a gift. And never accepted it.
Even flat out told that I don't want any.
No one listened. It only stopped when giving me one was no longer age appropriate.

Never played with it. I practically ignored every plushies and stuffed toys I allegedly owned.
Maybe except when destroying it.

Which is strange.
I liked figurines and action figures. Even paper dolls and puppets.
Yet not stuffed toys. Never stuffed toys.
