I disagree.
Some people have too much time on their hands, but most people are extremely busy. Many people have to work multiple jobs to make ends meet. Even just one job, plus taking care of one's house or apartment, can be a hell of a lot of work, especially for people who have children.

I think the polarization of today's society results less from people having
too much time on their hands than from people having
too little time to think deeply about nuances. I think most people just don't have enough time to be patient with each other.
