Miniskirts were in style at that time.

Men used to wear very short shorts playing in the NBA—till the 80s.

No way that would have sold in the 1960s.

Forget about this gender stuff. If you look at Star Trek objectively, I believe most people would like it. Forget that it was associated with your boyfriend.

Star Trek had morals , some of the episodes are pretty deep.

Ultra minis were all the rave at the time the first star treks got on television. Typically 1960's.

Towards the end of the 1960s, an even shorter version of the mini skirt, called the microskirt or micro-mini, emerged. Extremely short skirts, some as much as eight inches above the knee, were observed in Britain in the summer of 1962.

Paramount Television produced Star Trek from January 1968 to June 1969. Star Trek aired on NBC from September 8, 1966, to June 3, 1969....thus, the short skirts.
