I was born this way, it is an important part of who I am. It is nothing to be proud of or ashamed of. It is how I dealt with it that makes me proud and ashamed.

I'm mostly indifferent about it. The main thing that usually upsets me is how people react to me, which often isn't anything I can control. I also hate my sensory issues, but it doesn't make me hate being autistic or anything like that.

This is my method too. It’s good for avoiding conflict but bad for making connections with people. I wish I could make and keep friends more easily

Overall I have a hard time evaluating if I like being autistic or not, because I don't know what I would be like if I weren't. Would I basically be a different person? Would I still have the same interests? It's too hard to say.

I accept myself as i am, but being isolated without anyone you can relate to hurts sometimes

Autism is what I can and cannot do. I would have to make do.
Autistic is what I do with it. And for now, I'm alone in this.

Overall, it's a blessing and a curse.
And I'd be making changes for the better.
Always work in progress.

Here's a video of me explaining how do I feel being autistic.

I find it difficult.

There are so many things that seem difficult for me that the people around me have no problem with. There's alot.I don't understand and I know that as an adult.I'm expected to understand many things.

My niece.told me she was going to be an adult when she grew up not a kid like me.

I feel very much like a child wearing adults clothing sometimes. I wish life came with a handbook maybe then it would be easier to understand.

That said there are good things about being autistic too. There are many interesting people who share similar.interests.

Yes I think that's why people get impatient with me. I'm 'supposed' to have got over my quirkiness by now and 'grown up'. But I'm still struggling so people get annoyed.

Whar a painful thing to hear. Kids are very good at noticing differences in people and they aren't shy about observing them out loud. Depending on her age, she probably didn't even mean it as an insult, just a statement of fact.

I actually dislike being around kids partly for this reason- I feel self conscious that it draws attention to the fact that I'm not a proper adult.

I've literally just learned of my Autism this month. Gotta start somewhere. And it was all through studying and researching about it for the sake of my child (that was 1 of the reasons), who is officially diagnosed Autistic.

It was an exhilarating revelation for me, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that I learned *when* I did (I may not have taken it so well at an earlier age, knowing myself).

I'm just grateful to God for showing me all the connections throughout my life that lit up clear evidence, from my birth till this point, of how it has *always* been me. And I see that it changes nothing that's already in my life, *because* it's always been there, so I don't really feel the need for any major changes.

It's funny, I've always got on brilliantly with kids, even teenagers. I don't know why, maybe it's because I'm a bit like them and they appreciate it? I worked with kids for 10 years, I loved that sort of work.

It sometimes feels like I'm playing the game of life on a difficulty setting different from everyone else. I have a different thought process, I have a more creative mind, and at the end of the day I'm literally, as the kids say, built different, and that's fine. Is it difficult at times, especially to get people to understand me? Abso-effing-lutely. Is it rough to deal with the general public on a regular basis? You know it. It's got its moments, but when it has its good moments, those moments last a lifetime...and unfortunately the inverse can be said as well. When it has its bad moments, those can also last a lifetime (though I am trying to work on that, shoutout therapy).

To sum it all up, living with my autism can be both a blessing and a curse, and I'm making the best of both sides.

You summed it up perfectly. Playing the game of life on a higher difficulty setting than everyone else.

They say 'get out of your comfort zone.' I'm out of my comfort zone every day! Socialising is out of my comfort zone FFS.

I didn't know how to respond to it at all. Really caught me off guard.
She is 7 so I think you are right about her not intending to be unkind.
