Guns kill people by some people using the guns in very irresponsible ways so I vote Yes that guns do kill people. However guns are NOT the reason some people decide to use guns to kill. This poll is about semantics & preference of exact wording.

Exactly.

Fact Also is that without such easy access to guns, nuts can't kill people with them so incredibly easily. So, more guns strewn about e v e r y w h e r e and in the hands of people who should Never have them = more deaths via gun violence, regardless of whether you want to blame the gun, the bullet, or the shooter. Eliminate the cornucopia of guns and the death count goes down.
I agree but I don't think gun laws should be the main focus. Very little gets done to regulate guns despite all the activism supporting it. Besides Japan has strict gun laws & last year former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was killed by a homemade zip gun. I think it'll be better to switch the activism focus from the losing war on guns to the reasons why people decide to kill. Address income inequality, lack of quality mental health care & health care in general, bullying, & the failed war on drugs, to name a few.

Japan has WAY fewer gun deaths and a lower rate of homicide in general compared to the US.

Quote:
Japan has one of the lowest homicide rates, recording 0.2 homicides per 100,000 people in 2020, compared to the United States which recorded 5.3.

Its usually the bullet that kills someone - not the gun.

Of course this question relates to a common pro-gun/anti-gun-control slogan that says "guns don't kill people, people kill people," which, while technically true (since a gun can't kill without someone operating it), is a misleading fallacy.

The easy availability and widespread presence of guns, especially in American society, leads to a far greater number of deaths than if those guns were not as available, because guns are a very effective killing tool. A murderous person who only had knives at his disposal would find it much more challenging to kill and wouldn't be able to kill many people at one time. In addition, many gun deaths happen in the heat of the moment and would not happen at all if the people involved did not have guns.

So yes, the proliferation of available guns absolutely kills people.

Chris Rock was on to something, we don't need gun control, we need bullet control.
