Wouldn't it be great if acquiring new levels, powers, and skills in on-line video games required solving complex math problems generated at random?
No, absolutely not. I play video games to fly around breathing fire as a dragon, or to become in-debt to a Tanuki so I can live on peaceful island, not cry over maths!
If video games started doing that, I'd either download a mod to solve them for me or as a way to by-pass or disable that feature. I'm sure a team of modders would be more than happy to make such mods since there would definitely be a demand. Also, there's almost always a way to turn on debug mode and disable certain features. Not so much when it's an online multiplayer, since some disable cheats. However, if there's a will there's absolutely a way. Modders would turn this bit of code into absolutely anything. Plus a drop in sales would mean such a feature would be dropped pretty quickly.
Alternatively, I could buy old consoles and games. There's plenty of old DS games or Wii. Plus a significant amount of Switch games that you can play offline.
