Is it patronising to tell people to ''get out more'' ?

It depends on context. If someone is making an observation about how the world works but also lacks experience with the world, telling them to get out more is useful advice, at least if the first party wishes to have any credibility when making those observations.

It's not patronising, but it is a little insensitive. In most cases, people know they should get out more, but there are reasons for it. When you tell them, "get out more" - your dismissing the fact that it is not that simple. Social disorders are serious and even though "getting out" seems easy to most people, it is hard and in some cases almost immposible for people with social disoders. The best thing is to have a cousiler or healthcare professional address that if it is a serious problem... because that is their job and it is does not get personal.
