grudges against coworkers
I had this one obnoxious asshat for a handful of years. Best way I can describe him is that he was some high school jock that never grew out of it, mind you this guy was in his 40s. Loud, Crass, know it all, and irritating. Yet so many people liked him! On top of that, his wife was one of the higher ups! So he had the whole " I can do whatever I want" attitude and he got away with so much s--t.
His wife ended up leaving the company at one point, so a little bit of his clout faded. Then, turns out he had a drinking problem and was popping pills. He came in high as a kite one day, crashed a forklift into something. Then I didn't see him for a time, heard he was in rehab. Then a little later I did learn he was sacked; I believe for lying about being drunk and trying to get out of the whole mess. I won't lie I laughed my ass off, at last that MF'er got his just desserts. Jerk.
It is satisfying when boors get their comeuppance. If you stick around a place long enough, you will enjoy that privilege of witnessing karma in action! I have been surprised at my emotions. Sometimes I feel sorry for the boor. It depends on the situation. Just realize that they, too, have problems relating socially. It is not just us! Maybe their problem is the same ( HFA ) or maybe it is different. I guess it depends on the individual.
I left an IT support job because I couldn't participate in the office politics.
I felt like I was pushed into a corner and glued there while everyone else went on to bigger and better things.
Despite this I can't remember carrying a grudge against anyone but the CEO.
I never acted on this grudge (although I wanted to, and the moron kept intimate photos on his work laptop encrypted with his logon password)
My next job was installing satellite dishes as an employee out of a warehouse, but they sacked us all and made us all subcontractors (downunder this was known as being "workchoiced")
So we ended up having to run our own companies and do our own stock control, basically doubling our workload for about the same money.
The only advantage was reduction in the amount of other employees I had to interact with.
That came back to bite me in the form of a supervisor I referred to as "Drew Carey's evil twin".
He apparently had a quota and not enough installers to meet it.
He was not above bribing, blackmailing or otherwise threatening to get everyone to work extra days. Once he rang me while I was fishing for a cable in a customer's loungeroom wall and put him on speaker while he ordered me to work a weekend. When I told him I couldn't, he first turned threatening, then started swearing and abusing me. My customer was shocked and
I hung up on him. He immediately rang back and the tirade got worse. I told him the customer could hear him and hung up again. He rang back to sack me.
I contacted management, but since they had problems keeping the supervisor positions filled they upheld his decision.
I still carry that grudge, having been unable to extract any revenge.
Today my supervisor AW had the nerve to tell me "it has come to my attention" that I have been going behind the building. She asked why and I said sometimes there are carts back there and I take them to the front. She said stay in the front unless someone tells you to go back there. The managers will push the carts in back
Supervisor Davy tattled on me
I've been going behind the building since December 2021. Assistant managers wanzo, don, Javier, and others saw me and said nothing. During that time I had five different supervisors and none of them said anything about me going behind the building. My performance review in March was good
It reminds me of the time the landlord had the nerve to bark at me for going to the litterbox in the middle of the night. But I had b living there for two years at that point and went to the litterbox in the middle of the night every night.
I don't understand those micromanaging ass holes. However it was a month to month lease and he was correct he could have given me thirty days notice to move out. (Rolls eyes)
And "at will" employer. s**t. I have zero "rights". Constantly outnumbered outsmarted overpowered. But I will not go behind the building anymore unless someone tells me to because I am afraid of getting made redundant. Then I won't be able to get another dumpster fire "job" and I have to live in a cardboard box under the bridge s**t
You will encounter managers like that while working in retail. I work at a supermarket as a Parking Lot Attendant and I have gone to the back of the store to grab carts from time to time. Nobody has said anything about it. I would look into finding a job somewhere else if management keeps treating you this way.
