I never thought that people would desire censorship and the abolishment of the United States Constitution. I suppose I am out of step for liking freedom. Do most of you understand the offensive speech is the ONLY speech that needs to be protected. Well I guess fascism is fashionable by Marxist and people that are overly sensitive about liberty and freedom. I suppose I won't last long in with the likes of most of you. Some of you might look into reading some history. It seems as though you missed most of it.

I think you very much misunderstand our position. We aren't saying that this goon Carlson had on shouldn't be allowed to speak; far from it. Rather, we're practicing our freedom of speech by speaking out against him and Carlson.

You aren't saying that, but Tim and cyberdad explicitly are.

That said, it's wildly off-base to accuse either of those users of being Marxists. But they're also not dedicated liberals. They're ordinary Joes who have a variety of ideas which don't fall neatly into any conventional ideology.

If you swap 'fascism' for 'authoritarianism' most people will agree with your observation.

That said, I'm not sure our most openly totalitarian member is representative of the forum's user base or even of the forum's left-wing user base.

Also, as the pinniped above me pointed out if you read either of those two users posting histories you'll see that they're not very ideologically consistent. It's got very little to do with Marxism given that neither are Marxists by any reasonable definition.

I'd like to imagine that most leftists would look at history and realize that lefties are just as likely to end up having their speech curtailed by the sorts of drastic restrictions on speech that they might feel are justified when having an emotional kneejerk reaction to hate speech by their political opponents.

the weaponization of free speech by those aiming their crosshairs at what is labelled as "woke" is blatant and been ramping up for some time. Carlson is clever and slick, he plays a game of coming across as intellectual but he (tucker) knows what he's doing.

It was the central thesis of Neil Postman's book
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amusing_O ... s_to_Death
Postman largely predicted the oversaturation of information and the rise of charlatons like trump way back in 1985.
