I'm being serious here, and you're all spamming up my thread!

All these very silly posts are embarrassing to me. Stuffed toy-making is a very serious business. I spent many long obsessive hours hand-sewing stuffed animals and puppets as a child. My first one was a bunny that I designed and sewed when I was four (it had a purple dress and I got very mad at my uncle because he did not believe I had made it all by myself). My mom bought me a very good book, and as I see now that it is copyright 1976, I expect that it is out of print- Adventures in Toy-Making by Gillian Bradshaw-Smith. At any rate, the book starts out very simply with critters made out of a very few simple pieces, and advances through to more elaborate critters such as an octopus. My point is, start by making a couple simple things and learn the techniques before tackling a difficult project. You can buy fur fabric at a fabric and crafts store, or you could use felt also. It can have a bit of a stretch to it but should not have much stretch. Sewing by hand is much easier for small pieces and the fur doesn't get caught in tight sewing-machine stitching. Stuff it with polyester fluff stuffing, which comes in big bags like a pillow.
Don't let anyone spam up your thread because you will need it for the sewing. That was a terrible joke. At any rate, I do hope this helps.

I see that you've found some patterns and instructions. That's good, 'cause I wouldn't be able to help with the patterns. But I would have suggested using felt, like the kind that you can find in craft stores. If you wanted to get fancy, like for clothing, you could use more expensive stuff, but I wouldn't suggest it unless you're really serious.

I used to make plushies when I was younger, but never had the motivation to finish them. Heh, I failed at it anyway. *smile*

Good luck!

For making plushies, I use a fabric known in Mexico as "Dubetina" (I'm not sure if the correct translation is Velour, or maybe dubetina is a similar fabric), then I use light felt and/or short-haired fur for simulating the anime-style hair.

I have a question:
Is it a good idea to handsew my plushies first, and next using the sewing machine above the handsewing I made first?

Sure- do a careful basting first, and be pretty careful with the machine (go slow). With the type of velour you are using you don't have to be concerned with trapping the pile like on fur-type fabric.
And, I would use the zipper foot on your machine if you have one- that should make it much easier.

Calcifer is a good choice for beggining, if you use long-haired fur it would be great :)
