The audiobook is available from my local library, so you might be able to get ahold of it that way too if your library has audiobooks.
As for letting your son read/listen to it, I guess that's a tough bit of parental discretion. The book does seem a little mature, mostly because of language and reference to alcohol and drugs. But it's not terrible and doesn't advocate these things. In general, I would personally think it's fine for a mature 14-year-old, but I guess you should read/listen to it yourself before you make that call.
What do I know? I don't have any kids. If I do, I'll let them read whatever they want.
