Quote:
I must confess that when spudnik asked me if I was doing part 2 of Waterworld, I told the literal truth: No, I wasn't doing a sequel to Waterworld.

However, this is a post-global flooding book. However, there are a number of tenents I have put down:

*The global flooding is not as high (and unrealistic) as it is in the film. However, sea levels are at their highest since the Ordovician Era, about between 450 and 500 millions years ago. Dry land is a scarce commodity, but enough of it exists so that people live, more or less comfortably, on the islands that remain. If you're wondering about overpopulation, you will have to read my book....

*This is a science fantasy book, but one grounded firmly in reality. In fact, instead of being Waterworld, I chose something that is more like a mix of Evangelion, Firefly, and The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker.

*Technology still exists, and the ability to make it and maintain it still exists. However, some, like genetic manipulation, is forbidden, and others, like wormhole technology, is legendary.

*Means of creating substitute resources for things such as paper and oil exist, so there aren't as many shortages as one will expect.

*The cause of global flooding is not what would be expected.

*My main characters are not heroes. You could call them adventurers, but they all have their own weaknesses and neuroses, and they are slow to act against their foe, partly because they do not know of that foe's existence.

Cool! I'm digging it already. 8)

12 chapters done already. I had to go back and rewrite something, because one character was in danger of becoming habitually in peril.

13 chapters done. Cliffhanger ending. I love cliffhanger endings to chapters. Probably a hangover from watching too much Doctor Who.

18 chapters and a glossary finished. The whole novel is finished, and I intend to send it to a friend for proofreading and opinions soon.

For some reason, I have the theme for Death Note (The WORLD by Nightmare) running through my head as the theme for this story.

I've sent the book off to a friend of mine for proof-reading and criticism.

While I am waiting on my friend's opinion of the manuscript, I have realised that I could take the concept in my original novel and use it elsewhere, as I was dissatisfied with how things were going in that potential novel series.

Quatermass, could you send me your abstract and 1st chapter?

I would love to review and give you some critique! :D

My addy is <[email protected]>

I've got a story idea of my own.

Thanks, Slowmutant

Sorry, I'm too paranoid about plagiarism to do so.

The sheer fact that you mentioned Dr Who and cliffhangers make me very curious to read this! :D

On Saturday, I am seeing a pair of fantasy authors who may be able to give me advice on getting published.

You're not too paranoid for that?

I'm not telling them the plot or anything. They're at my local library for some talk or something.
