I was a professional SHLHE player for 2 years. I only played $10/$20. I haven't played in some time now, the UIGEA really hurt my EV and I found it better to get a job.

if you were running shlhe, you were already at the best +EV you can run....those tables mostly draw schmucks and amateurs who watch too much espn2.

Um? The games got a lot harder after UIGEA. And there are a lot of smart motherf***ers who play SHLHE.

I have finally gotten the courage to play tournaments at casinos. Started with small tournaments and doing pretty good, but having some issues dealing with all the noises and the difficulty in focusing with all the distractions in the casino. Anyone else had this experience? Any suggestions. I think I can work through it, but I am hoping it doesn't take too long. These tournaments aren't cheap and I need to be able to focus 100% on my game. NL Hold-em is definitely a good game for analyticals.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Look at it this way, playing poker is just about the only activity where you're allowed (hell, even encouraged) to wear headphones and sunglasses and stare at the floor. Also, if you don't want to be social, you don't have to. Weirdly enough, because when I play I tend to be a twitchy bundle of nerves not because of what cards I have but because of sudden noises and the like, people have told me I'm unreadable. Good luck on the tables.

I played individual league poker until it got shut down even though it wasn't illegal. Played for prizes, paid monthly fee.
I only played at the freeroll month long tourney, came in 12th out of 300. I miss that place. Texas Hold em and Omaha. Lots of fun. I just found out about a $5 shuttle that goes to the nearest indian reservation casino so I think I'll take it up again.
