the sort of images I get in my head while listening to music are sometimes almost as real as the world around me.

also, I find that I have above average capability of finding songs perfectly suited for the particular situation, almost like having a search engine in my head- you type the word/emotion/picture, I give you a perfect track to illustrate it.

anyone else has that?

Hmm sort of..I do often find myself thinking strange thoughts like "wow this song would be perfect if X ever happens."

so why did you quote elsewhere on the forum they have to be lined up and shot?

Why do you think?

There is a difference between "music" and "musicians", like there is a difference between "politics" and "politicians". You may like the former and hate the later.

Musicians are in essence obnoxious-egoed-hypocritical dolts. They think their fame gives them status, thus they have a "right" to tell people what to do.

Those that are not famous are mostly social parasites that think their music is so important that it will change the world. Not.

I've seldom met a musician who was enjoying just doing music for the sake of it and I tend to encourage those that are. Most musicians always got to have a hidden agenda or some sort of political stance for the "greater good of humanity".

The Damned Foursome: Bono, Michael Stipe, Sting and Bob Geldof.

I don't need some pretentious singer to tell me who to vote for, how to save the Amazona forest and who to save from AIDS.

They should be shot... or at least take the stance of other artists (ie: painters) and shut the hell up.

I hope I'm crystal clear on this. You may beg to differ but that won't make it right.

I am a musician as well as love listening to music. I suspect that musicians tend to be jerks but most of them do not realize it. hmmmm take some with AS here at WP...they do not mean to be jerks, but certainly come across that way. no one cares ahow "i" for instance play....unless of course they are in the same auditorium. but I do not use it to act weird....besides I generally do not likie people at all. After I play im not seen until next show which could be months away.

Fame may "give" them thses rights....being a true musician is not attatched with that junk. A musician eats, sleeps, breathes, musics, not charities and fame.

Read back what I said: "I've seldom met a musician who was enjoying just doing music for the sake of it and I tend to encourage those that are."

I enjoy making music, not having a political or social stance, period.

Those sharing the same ideal are fine with me.

There are some musicians like that, but I think there's also a lot of musicians who aren't.

Music is my life!! ! its my first love and always will be. people do say i have a wide variety of tatse. from rock to classical, folk to reggae, pop to country. i have to check it all out. i think evryone should before they start critisizing things. i'm going through a phase of mid-60's bands that weren't that famous and i learn all about these bands, i'm the kind of person who has to know it all (part of my AS i suppose as an obsession thing!) :D

I have to have music playing if I am working on the computer or at work, or driving... I feel panicky if no music is on (and get even more panicky if I hear bluegrass somewhere!)

Yeah, music can take me places, but it's not always solely the musician who takes me there... anything produced/recorded with Steve Albini tends to have that effect on me, as well as anything recorded via the analogue technique as opposed to digitally.
