Out of curiosity, do you consider power metal to be "real" metal (or "metla enough" or whatever)or would any discussion of it on this thread or any metal thread of your be unwelcome?

yes i concider power metal to be fully metal because of bands like Deamons and Wizards Blind Gaurdian Iced Earth Nightwish Dio etc etc

i think Dio invented power metal with the album Holy Diver

Well I know very little about anything to do with the metal genre but I've burned quite a few of Thagomizer's power metal CDs. I really like Blind Guardian and Helloween; and I have one Demons and Wizards album, Touched by the Crimson King, which is almost entirely Dark Tower fan songs (so I really wanted that one! I'm a King junkie.). I think my favorite albums by the other two are Imaginations from the Other Side and Rabbit Don't Come Easy respectievely; though when I finish The Lord of the Rings series I'm probably going to listen to Nightfall in Middle Earth as obsessively as I was listening to Touched by the Crimson King when I finially finished the Dark Tower series (Bilnd Guardian has done a few King fan songs too but not the majority of an entire album). I also have a couple of things by Nightwish and Sinergy; I don't like them as much though.

I've heard death metal too but am not as into it; I'm musically shallow or something but it's a bit too harsh for me. Maybe when I grow up.
