If we could make a carrier out of our special interests i don't see why we would not get paid.

sounds like "pure O" or purely obsessive OCD.

I have this exact same problem. It's the reason that I am unable to get a job. I stress so much when I don't even need to that I have a huge mental breakdown...

THIS is what you need to talk to the doctors about--they can help you with psychological problems.

I've talked to someone with OCD about eliminating obsessions by making drastic changes--it does no good because new ones just take their place.

You are so right.

I have suffered with OCD for years. It started out with me obsessively worrying about my health. In an effort to cure myself I kept off ‘health’ website, got rid of all the medial books I owned and avoided watching any TV programme that was medical related. It worked in the sense that I, eventually, stopped obsessively about my health, but I started worrying about other things, just as intently, instead.

There is no shame in seeking help from your GP. ODC, depression etc. is an illness like any other and can be treated.

I left it a long time before I sort help and now wish I hadn’t wasted all those years worrying when I could have been doing something much more productive with my life.

Good luck, you are not alone.
