Radiohead's 'Idioteque, seems like a good example of aspie brain chemistry. I mean because of the beat, not the words.

Can't shake the thought lately that Ray Davies of The Kinks must be an Aspie, given what I know of their history, and the content of many of his lyrics:

I wont take all that they hand me down,
And make out a smile, though I wear a frown,
And I wont take it all lying down,
cause once I get started I go to town.

cause Im not like everybody else,
Im not like everybody else,
Im not like everybody else,
Im not like everybody else.

And I dont want to ball about like everybody else,
And I dont want to live my life like everybody else,
And I wont say that I feel fine like everybody else,
cause Im not like everybody else,
Im not like everybody else.

But darling, you know that I love you true,
Do anything that you want me to,
Confess all my sins like you want me to,
Theres one thing that I will say to you,
Im not like everybody else,
Im not like everybody else.

Im not like everybody else,
Im not like everybody else
And I dont want to ball about like everybody else,
And I dont want to live my life like everybody else,
And I wont say that I feel fine like everybody else,
cause Im not like everybody else,
Im not like everybody else.

Like everybody else,
Like everybody else,
Like everybody else,
Like everybody else.

If you all want me to settle down,
Slow up and stop all my running round,
Do everything like you want me to,
Theres one thing that I will say to you,
Im not like everybody else,
Im not like everybody else.

Im not like everybody else,
Im not like everybody else.
And I dont want to ball about like everybody else,
And I dont want to live my life like everybody else,
And I wont say that I feel fine like everybody else,
cause Im not like everybody else,
Im not like everybody else.

Like everybody else (like everybody else),
Like everybody else (like everybody else),
Like everybody else (like everybody else),
Like everybody else.

"Dead Boy's Poem" by Nightwish, at least the first part:

Quote:
Born from silence, silence full of it
A perfect concert my best friend
So much to live for, so much to die for
If only my heart had a home

Sing what you can't say
Forget what you can't play
Hasten to drown into beautiful eyes
Walk within my poetry, this dying music
- My loveletter to nobody

"Lagoon" also by Nightwish. This is all the lyrics of this song.
Quote:
Imagine a perfect beach
Without a mermaid
Imagine a perfect hideaway
Without a time

Ocean Soul

Imagine a perfect Eden
Without a friend without a serpent

Ocean Soul
Lonely Soul

"Feeling lonely and content at the same time,
I believe, is a rare kind of happiness"

Ocean Soul

yeah, I listen to a lot on Nightwish. I really like Lagoon. I don't know what else might be an aspie song, "I am a Rock" I guess, like everyone else said. And "Wilkommen im nichts" by Eisbrecher is a satire of NT behavior, pairing slightly exaggerated description of NT life with lines thrown in that translate "we are so dumb" or "we are absurd" and the chorus translates as "You are welcome - welcome to / A very warm welcome to nothing"

I'm a Koяn fan.

Some parts of the lyrics I relate to, not all of 'em. 3 Songs lyrics I like. This is why I'll only post certain verses I can relate to. The only exception is Did My Time, where I relate to mostly all of that song.

Freak On A Leash - From The Album Follow The Leader

Something takes a part of me.
Something lost and never seen.
Everytime I start to believe,
Something's raped and taken from me... from me.
Life's got to always be messing with me. (You wanna see the light)
Can't they chill and let me be free? (So do I)
Can't I take away all this pain. (You wanna see the light)
I try to every night, all in vain... in vain.
Sometimes I cannot take this place.
Sometimes it's my life I can't taste.
Sometimes I cannot feel my face.
You'll never see me fall from grace
Something takes a part of me.
You and I were meant to be.
A cheap f*** for me to lay
Something takes a part of me.

Falling Away From Me - From The Album Issues.

Hey, I'm feeling tired.
My time, is gone today.
You flirt with suicide.
Sometimes, that's ok.
Do what others say.
I'm here, standing hollow.
Falling away from me.
Falling away from me.
Day, is here fading.
That's when, I would say.
I flirt with suicide.
Sometimes kill the pain.
I can always say.
'It's gonna be better tomorrow'.
Falling away from me.
Falling away from me.

Beating me down.
Beating me, beating me.
Down, down.
Into the ground.
Screaming some sound.
Beating me, beating me.
Down, down.
Into the ground.

Here To Stay - From The Album Untouchables

This time, taking it away
I've got a problem, with me getting in the way,
Not by design
So I take my face and bash it into a mirror.
I won't have to see the pain (pain, pain)
This state is elevating, as the hurt turns into hating.
Anticipating, all the f**ked up feelings again.

The hurt inside is fading
This sh**'s gone way too far.
All this time I've been waiting
No I can not grieve anymore.
For what's inside awaking.
I'm done, I'm not a whore
You've taken everything and oh I can not give anymore.

My mind is done with this
Okay, I've got a question.
"Can I throw it all away?"
Take back what's mine
So I take my time, guiding the blade down the line
Each cut closer to the vein (vein, vein)

This state is elevating, as the hurt turns into hating.
Anticipating, all the f***ed up feelings again.

The hurt inside is fading
This sh**'s gone way too far.
All this time I've been waiting
No I can not grieve anymore.
For what's inside awaking.
I'm done, I'm not a whore
You've taken everything and oh I can not give anymore

Did My Time - From The Album Take A Look In The Mirror

Realized I can never win
Sometimes I feel like I have failed
Inside where do I begin
My mind is laughing at me
Tell me why am I to blame
Aren't we suppose to be the same
That's why I will never tame
This thing that's burning in me

I am the one who chose my path
I am the one who couldn't last
I feel the life pulled from me
I feel the anger changing me

Sometimes I can never tell
If I've got something after me
That's why I just beg and plead
For this curse to leave me
Tell me why am I to blame
Aren't we suppose to be the same
That's why I will never tame
This thing that's burning in me

I am the one who chose my path
I am the one who couldn't last
I feel the life pulled from me
I feel the anger changing me

Betrayed
I feel so enslaved
I really Tried
I did my time
I did my time
I did my time
I did my time
I did my time

I am the one who chose my path
I am the one who couldn't last
I feel the life pulled from me
I feel the anger changing me

Oh God, the anger's changing me,
Oh God, the anger's changing me.

Was listening to music today and realized a lot of the songs I have on my playlist seem to have been written by someone with AS because the lyrics really touch home. I figured we should have a thread to share such songs with each other. Ill go first.

After Midnight Project - "Take me Home"
Garbage - "The Trick is to Keep Breathing"
Lacuna Coil - "Stars"
Lacuna Coil - "Falling"
Disturbed - "Forsaken"
Linkin Park - "A Place for my Head"
Metallica - "Until it Sleeps"

I have more but its getting late.. will add more later.

The AMP one is pretty obscure though if anyone wants to hear it.. whats the policy for linking to copywritten content? Couldnt find anything in the rules.

here's one, but it is a little explicit. by the best band in the world, green day. basket case

'do you have the time
to listen to me whine
about everything and nothing all at once
i am one of those
melodramatic fools
nirodic to the bone no doubt abot it'
...
'sometimes i give myself the creeps
sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
it all keeps adding up
i think i' cracking up
am i just paraniod?
or am i dumb?'

another ending to the chorus, which is above:
'i dont know!'

it is my theme song! along side with warning, also by green day

ROCK ON!!
( i love punk rock music )

Growing up in Texas in the 80's, I was a huge King's X fan. Their song Pretend pretty much describes life in my teens and early twenties (didn't know about AS then).

Artist: King's X
Song: Pretend
Album: Dogman

you took away from me I tried to get it back
and if you lie to me I keep it to myself
a trick or treat but then that don't make it right
I can't remember when I could say goodnight
then something comes into my head and then a change
I work it out somehow I guess I've got my ways
but then I wonder how did I get it wrong
it doesn't matter now.

I pretend.

I take the longest walks they always do me good
I just indulge myself in sorrow singing blues
but then I have to laugh cause it's an outlet too
and if I add it all it still just wouldn't do
I've come to realize there's nothing I can lose
so I control myself nothing else to do
I'll just remember when it comes around again
I'd rather be alone I won't get hurt again

I pretend.

then something comes into my head and then a change
I work it out somehow I guess I've got my ways
I take the longest walks it always does me good
I just control myself.

I pretend.

I think a lot of Nirvana songs show apsieness, such as 'come as you are,' 'the man who sold the world,' 'Lithium' and others.

definately agree dgd1788

about a girl : 'i can't see u every night....free'

smiths 'how soon is now':

I am the son
And the heir
Of a shyness that is criminally vulgar
I am the son and heir
Of nothing in particular

You shut your mouth
How can you say
I go about things the wrong way
I am Human and I need to be loved
Just like everybody else does

I am the son
And the heir
Of a shyness that is criminally vulgar
I am the son and the heir
Of nothing in particular

You shut your mouth
How can you say
I go about things the wrong way
I am Human and I need to be loved
Just like everybody else does

There's a club, if you'd like to go
You could meet somebody who really loves you
So you go, and you stand on your own
And you leave on your own
And you go home
And you cry
And you want to die

When you say it's gonna happen now,
Well, when exactly do you mean?
See I've already waited too long
And all my hope is gone

You shut your mouth
How can you say
I go about things the wrong way
I am Human and I need to be loved
Just like everybody else does

I know very little about the personal lives of Kraftwerk. Their music is very popular with geeks and not so popular with woman. Just like me they don't like using the phone.

I had never heard of Kraftwerk until only a few years ago, but I was a huge fan of the Art of Noise. They didn't get a lot of radio play, so I was pretty sure I was the only one I knew who liked them.
