I am personally highly left leaning, but I do see value in both perspectives.

Conservatives try to describe human nature and make appeals to organize society in accordance with that nature, which carries a certain prudence. What works...works.

Liberals (using the contemporary meaning) try to criticize human nature and make appeals to evolve beyond human nature because it leads to oppression and discrimination in society. It's revolutionary by its nature.

I like the appeal to revolution better, but I do try to heed human nature and consider it seriously. One would know that Plato's Republic would have become a dynastic oligarchy if one sufficiently understands human nature, because those technocrats who control the laws would have rewritten them to preserve influence for their "intellectually average" children, because that's what humans do without something checking that nature.

I see Centrists as institutionalists. There is value in that as well.

What does it matter? The Kakocracy already rigged everything in their favor! Just leave me alone and let me live out my miserable solitary life as a hermit and be forgotten

IMHO conservatism as practiced in amuuurica, buttressed by its objectivist prophet and bible, is fundamentally a glorified cult exalting the "virtue" of selfishness and corporate domination [fascism] of amuuurica. amuuurican-style liberalism exists primarily to curb corporatists' rapacious hunger for power over the rest of us, while boosting the power of government and incidentally throwing some crumbs at the working class and fighting off the sanctimonious bluenosed hypocrites who dominate the conservative group.

Conservative-

I believe that help should be available when citizens fall on hard times, and always available for the disabled. But, ultimately each able bodied individual is responsible for the upkeep and happiness of themselves. People should have the freedom to practice any religion they like as long as it's not forced on anyone else. I am pro-life, but do not believe in stopping someone from having an abortion as long as they find the funding for it. I believe in recycling, decreasing carbon footprints, being clean, living green, etc... But, I don't believe it will do anything to stop climate change. I just think it's the right thing to do.

I want all races in my country legally. I like all races. I don't think any country has the resources to support an endless amount of immigrants and that immigrants should be evenly placed all over the world. Perhaps there could be an account set aside with all the world contributing to help resettle immigrants.

I believe in laws. I believe in responsible gun ownership. If someone is a nut, or a criminal, they can't have a gun.

As far as my views on sexuality go, they are influenced by my own take on sex, in general. When I was young, I was more sexual. Now that I'm older, I'm not as interested in my sex or anyone else's. If someone is gay, fine. I can be and am friends with a few, IF they are more than just gay. If they are just gay and nothing else, I don't want to be friends with them anymore than I want to be friends with someone who is just straight. My thoughts are: if your only claim to fame is your sex life, you're a raving flop.

I don't ask anything of my fellow man. I believe in relative self-sufficiency. To me, that's the definition of freedom. If you need your government for anything other than safety, you're not free.

You do not sound like the stereotypical US conservative & would be considered a very moderate one at most thou you sound more like a moderate liberal. The stereotyped conservative is against all programs that help the poor or disabled & see people like me who are disabled as lazy leaches sucking on the teats of the hardworking American taxpayer & thus the conservatives are trying to slash Social Security, Medicare, & Medicaid. They claim to support religious freedom but they only care about pushing their religion on others. Creationism needs to be taught along evolution. Businesses can deny homosexuals goods are services on the grounds of religious freedom. Insurances & pharmacist have the right to deny women birth control on the grounds of religious freedom. They believe ALL abortion is a form of murder & believe women should spend the rest of their lives in prison or even get the death penalty for getting abortions even in cases of rape NO exceptions. They are against anything related to going green or that will protect the environment or health because they believe big businesses have the right to exploit the environment for their own selfish reason because they only care about the quick & easy bucks.

Your views on immigration make sense to me & I kinda like it. You said nothing about separating illegal child immigrants from their parents & putting all illegals in cages indefinitely. So while your views on immigration may not be liberal, they are not the stereotypical US conservative.

Your views on guns sound like things liberals claim when they push gun control regulations. The conservatives strongly support the NRA which is supporting the gun lobby & believe even criminals & people on the terrorist watch lists have the right to any guns they want. They also seem to think that the only problem with guns in America is that we're not having enough 30 seconds of silence to support victims of mass shootings.

You seem to be accepting & not judgemental of sexuality. The conservatives hate homosexuals with a passion. They are against homosexuals getting married, believe homosexuals need conversion therapy, & lots of conservatives even support violence against homosexuals.

You seem to value independence which I can respect. The other stuff I mentioned is exactly the reason why I'm a Socialist/Progressive because they are strongly against that stuff.

Centrist. Make compromises, achieve pragmatic results that are less than ideal but results all the same.

Progressive Democratic Socialist.... I wrote in Bernie Sanders in 2016, and plan to vote for Elizabeth Warren next year, whether or not she is the Democratic superdelegates' choice in the primary.

My values align closer to liberal. I listen to both sides of the argument and the majority of the time land left. I'm not tribalistic, meaning I'm not going to side with a liberal idea because it's a liberal idea nor will I shut down a conservative idea because it's conservative.
