I spent a lot on music over the years that I could not :pirat: A lot of that was on comedy music artists that were underground famous. I spent a bit of that on Kickstarters & GoFundMes they ran but I also spent a bit just buying their DLs or physical CDs they released. I also spent a bit of money on novelty CDs that used to be popular like 3 Ren & Stimpy CDs.

I also spent a bit of money on a knife/blade collection that includes some other weapons.

Easier way is to start your own lottery. You will have a far better chance of raising that sort of money then the time it takes you to win if you entered each week u til you did win. You would be rich many times over if you started your own lottery up.

I am not saying to do this though. I am saying this out of the principle of getting rich quick (Not exactly quick but quicker in theory) if that makes sense?

I would not do it though out of principle. I don't want people to gamble their money away.

Noo. You have more chance by not entering and saving the money you would have spent buying lottery tickets in becoming wealthy as the odds of winning are remote.
Now that is my advice to save your money.
However, there is a thought that if you don't enter you don't win... But I would save your money! :D

working class folk generally don't make enough to save any appreciable amounts past keeping a roof over their heads.

Still would consider , the thought of winning a lottery ... would be nice .. would prolly share money if , I won a big pot of money . If I can afford. A night out for dinner , fast food or otherwise , always feels like I am ( well to do).
Trying to keep my “wants “ simple. An in doing so ,been able with help of others to collect some rather unique things.

Guitar gear gets pretty expensive. Same with car parts.

Here is what I mean when I say the prices of model railways are going up. This is 00 gauge which is similar to H0 gauge. The prototypes usually pull around 25 to 30 of these at a time so one needs quite a few of them to make a realistic representation of a passing train.

https://www.oliviastrains.com/trains/ba ... ed-livery/

So lets be conservative and buy 20 of these bogie wagons. That would set us back some £1300 and add the cost of a loco to pull it at around £200 if one wants DCC (More like £300 to £400 if one has to double head the train and buy two locos as those bogie wagons are heavy) and one is into £1500 to £1700. Or thereabouts. The prices today have risen so fast that it is getting silly because 00 gauge was considered to be the poor mans way into the hobby and the larger 0 gauge was the realm of the wealthy.
There are cheaper ways to enjoy the hobby, which is what I want to promote. I can make myself little narrow gauge waggons for just a few pounds each so it does not need to be so expensive... I gave the link above as an example of how spending can get out of hand if one does not limit onesself or find other ways to enjoy this hobby.

Much truth in that.

Even in garden railway scale, buy a good quality, less than $100 locomotive, new or used, which will last for many decades, then if you have the skill and interest, or even just the beginnings of them, buy the metal wheels, which will last at least half of forever, and build your own cars from whatever you have that will be sturdy enough.
Of course the whole thing depends on your having enough interest in the thing to do so.
Clearly several things here are yet to be completed!

Looks good. Is that G scale? Noo. The track looks too narrow. Uhmmm. Looks G scale couplings on the loco.
Metal wheels roll better but there is nothing wrong with plastic wheels if one happens to have some available. Metal wheels are a luxury and are lovely.
I am considering making my own wheels though but I need LOTS of practice and experimentation... But that is where the fun starts!

Thanks!
Yep, is Gauge 1 track.
Is by Bachmann, has tinplate rails not designed for outdoor use and comes in their Big Hauler sets.
I build to 1/24 scale, which makes track equivalent to 42in, 1066mm, gauge.
Locomotive is by Hartland Locomotive Works, also to 1/24 scale, is an electric based on their representation of a gas-mechanical locomotive by Mack Trucks,( for actual see https://www.bigmacktrucks.com/topic/336 ... comotives/ ) same frame and cab with different hoods plus photographs or trolley pole.
I've got about 6 boxcars made from various combinations of balsa wood, basswood, lacquer-soaked matboard.

Do have some commercially produced cars, both full size and some little 4-wheel cars by HLW.
My income now is Social Security Disability, so making what I can make is now the way to go - and fun too! :D

I used to be in 00 gauge, and I have quite a bit of it which I am slowly selling.

My love is in 7mm narrow gauge known here in Britain as 0-16.5 (0 scale using 16.5 gauge). In the EU it is known as 0e and in the USA it is known as 0n30.

There are no factory made models in 0-16.5 and 0e (There used to be in 0e but limited to the Fleishmann Magic Train), but there is in 0n30 by Bachmann. USA 0n30 models are very much larger then my models are so though I could make use of the odd item, most of them do not really fit into what I am building.

So I do not have any ready made factory made models though many of my models started life using factory made 00 or H0 scale models as donor vehicles or chassis to convert.

So far from my personal 7mm narrow gauge collection only one item of rooling stock was not built or altered by my own hands other then very minor painting of small detail, and that is a brake van I saw on Ebay that my brother bought for me (I paid him back). It was made from a resin kit on an old Triang chassis though I do not know which manufacturer made the kit.

My aim is different from many modellers in that I don't aim for precision, but rather I aim to be happy in what I make. Consistency covers for the lack of detail.
