You've probably never heard of Даниил Гилев (Daniil Gilev), he's the current singer with Russian band Робинзон (RobinZon) but he also performs solo and he's got a great voice.

Super tough question.. here are 5 bands I really like:

Between the Buried and Me (incredible progressive death metal.. but also so much more than that)
The Dears (super over the top pretentious Montreal, Canada indie rock band. SO GOOD)
Refused (the shape of punk to come is my favourite album of all time)
Tower of Power (because of Rocco's amazing bass playing)
The Blood Brothers (arty noisy post-hardcore with lots of Wurlitzer piano)
