Yes, that's the song I was referring to ;)
I've never looked up the lyrics for that one, so I've never really considered what it was about.

It's one of my favorites, too.
I know my wording was a little confusing, I've heard the album many times, just not on vinyl.

I don't really listen to a lot of music at home anymore. I have MP3s at work, and I have CDs in the car, but when I'm at home and I have time for music, I would rather play my guitar.

...sometimes I really wish I could bring my guitar to work and play it there, too ¬_¬

The lead singer of the first band I was in talked a lot about Genesis and Peter Gabriel, his favorites, along with Lou Reed and David Bowie. Sorry to say, Genesis didn't grab me until they released Duke and Abacab. Now, those two albums I really enjoy as well as Peter Gabriel's oeuvre.

Recently, I tried giving early Genesis another listen. It's tolerable and that's mainly because I'm now a huge fan of Peter Gabriel, but it's not something I would, say, place on my desert island disc list. Later Genesis just doesn't interest me that much. I'm familiar with many of the songs because they get played to death on radio, but they don't grab me like Duke and Abacab.

DH and I traveled to Denver in 2007 for the "Turn It On Again" tour, as there wasn't a show in Seattle and Genesis is his forever-favorite band. We knew it would likely be the last opportunity for him to see them, so the trip was well worth it.

I also love Genesis, but Rush will always be my favorite.

Really? I've actually never heard a Gabriel-era Genesis song played on the radio.

Nice that you spend your time playing guitar. I play guitar, as well, although, not often enough, these days. What would happen if you brought your guitar to work, and played it, there? I work in a design firm, and a couple people do bring their guitars to work and play, on occasion.

Thank you for clarifying. Your wording was probably, fine, and I may have incorrectly, interpreting what you wrote, or, I actually, think I interpreted what you meant, correctly, as I knew you were referring, solely to your vinyl copy of the album, when you stated you hadn't listened to it, as of yet. You were, perfectly, clear! : )

"Later Genesis", he said ;) I know I've heard stuff from We Can't Dance and Invisible Touch on the radio.

I bet the oldies station would play Peter-era Genesis if I made a request.

I know the boss wouldn't care if I brought my acoustic guitar and just played it during break, but there isn't really anywhere out-of-the-way to put it, and I'd be afraid of it getting dirty or wrecked or stolen. So I just drum on the arm of my chair instead.

Nah, I knew it was worded awkwardly right when I wrote it, but I was ready for bed and too tired, so I just shrugged and clicked "submit".

I wish they still had video of that concert, I would love to see it one day.

I've seen the video where they tried to reconstruct as much as they could, using small clips, photos, etc. It's...kind of weird.

To supplement my Duke/Abacab-era Genesis, I also collect bootlegs from that era. They're all of varying quality, but generally speaking, not bad snapshots of a band I enjoy.

I would LOVE to see it, as well. I will have a look for the reconstructed version... For the sake of curiosity_

Goodnight to all_

I'm currently listening to The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway for the first time in over thirty years. I used to listen to it so much when I was younger I can still remember every bit of it.

I definitely prefer Peter Gabriel era Genesis. The first couple of albums after he left had some good stuff on them but I thought they lost the plot completely after Wind & Wuthering.
