Yes, also "Dr. Dre" has a period in his name and he's a rapper, not a doctor.

According to Wikipedia the period in "Dr. Pepper" was done away with some time in the 1950s for stylistic and legibility reasons. Nothing to do with legal issues.

I think its odd that anyone would think it looks better stylistically to have it misspelled

The Cambridge Dictionary says this:

Dr is British English.
Dr. is American English.

So it looks like they both mean Doctor. Maybe Dr Pepper shouldn't be using Dr or Dr. at all :lol:

Mr. Pibb was originally called Peppo in 1970s. But they had to change that for sounding too much like "Dr Pepper". So they changed it to Mr. Pibb. Now Mr. Pibb is obsolete. Since the early 2000s it has been called Pibb Xtra.
