Groups vary in how well they behave toward newcomers. Alas, groups tend to be cliquish unless they make a specific effort not to be cliquish.

Not at all, because I don't have any such groups where I live. And yet, my town is one of the reference points for autism research in France. Doesn’t make any sense.
