It could also do with the way you approach people as well.

I do agree that college is a great place to find someone when you're in that age range. I had my first girlfriend in college, although we met in my senior year of high school.

Certainly, college seems to have been the best chance I had for finding someone than anytime in my life since. Unfortunately, I'm in my mid 30s now and the vast amount of students when I return to college will be far too young.

Work relationships always have a stigma with them because "what if you have a bad breakup and still have to work with each other every shift?". However, I have seen a number of my friends find love at their workplaces.

Still, fact of the matter, is that it's hard to find love when you're at my age. =( Most people go to bars/clubs or go to church, neither of which are me. *sigh*

In my personal experience working in the office, I've noticed that people my age/a little bit older tend to be more reserved in approaching people for conversation (unless there's a close relationship established). Though there are exceptions to this--a girl at my work is probably early 30s and she has admitted to being very extroverted, and comes up to talk to people often.

I've had many older ladies and gentlemen approach me for conversation (regardless of whether I am busy or not). A lot of the time they tend to talk at me instead of with me (dumping their stresses or what they did recently on me, with little room for me to talk or share my own experiences/responses). I wonder if it's a generation related cultural thing.

I've experienced that as well with people around my age. It may be because I tend to be quiet & am good at listening. Older people tend to be more supportive of me. Perhaps that's due to them having more life experience, having different priorities, & not having as much current drama in their lives.

That makes total sense! I think it really depends on the work place, and the individuals working there. I also feel the same--I've had a couple people my age act similarly that no longer work with me.
