Saying "Owned" is a bickerfest? I got lots to learn apparently.

8O :? You've got to be kidding me!

Nope. I am at another forums where it is open warfare. It is a game to see who gets to put up the first "Owned" post. Everyone tries to undercut the other persons argument. Whoever doesn't know their material gets "Owned".

All in good fun. People get mad and yell sure. It is like one of those families on TV where everyone yells, but they all love each other.

I think. ;)

I have purposefully avoided this topic in fear that it would result in anger.
So far though, things look tame.

Some of you might be interested in this article about my best friend, who is now a Jewish Philosophy major at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. This article was written three years ago. Some of the aspects of how he practices Judaism have changed. He remains committed to the cause this article points out. While not an Aspie, he does have ADHD. He was also fundamental in me finally getting diagnosed and sober.

Can you guys teach me the whole thing about "owned"? I never heard that concept before, but aparently it is a type of game. So can you just lay out the rules of it and the whole concept for someone who never heard about it before?

To my knowledge, I am not an antisemite. I actually admire the Jewish people for their frequent intelligence and admire the tradition of their religion.

BTW, I wouldn't really be surprised if there's more Neo-Nazis in the US than over in Germany. In Germany, even any such mentioning is a big no-no so I understand it.

In Germany denying the Holocaust is a crime. In America, apparently, it's free speech.

But that's just Germany. There may well be neo-nazis in other parts of Europe.

In Canada it is also a crime. Zundel, who is ethnic German but lived in Canada was denying holocaust and Canada decided to send him to Germany so that he can go to jail there.

I also believe a lot of European countries, not just Germany, would censor holocaust denial.

Even if not holocaust denial, at least hate speach is probably censored in a lot of places. Ironically, USA is probably one of the few countries if not the only one where hate speach is FULLY protected under first commandemnt. AT THE SAME TIME it is the country where ethnic hatred is looked down upon the most (well may be except for Germany).

To illustrate my point, in Russia antisemitism among other hatemongering is known as "article 282" and considered a crime of some sort. HOWEVER, thats the country where Makashov and other big political figures are openly using the word "k*e" and openly saying they wish kike-free Russia or they would take few kikes with them when they die, and they go totally unpunished.

People engage in a debate about a subject. When someone says something that is absolutely wrong, or they are caught making a mistake or lying, they are "owned" by the situation. They have been revealed to be liars or wrong. They cannot talk their way out of it. It is as plain as day. They are "owned".

One man said the USA never helped Saddam Hussein. Then another man posted a picture of Donald Rumsfeld shaking hands with Hussein.

You cannot argue with a photograph. The man was "owned" because there was no way he could get out of his obvious mistake. It is almost like the gods hold you up for all to see that you made a mistake and you cannot escape responsibility for it.

Then why would ppl at the other message board deliberately try to be owned? Why would anyone want to deliberately try to be wrong? And in this case it isn't much of a challenge to be the first one to get owned, you can simply make something up that is wrong, such as 2+2=5, so why is it even interesting?
