The sex industry is corrupt and degrading anyway. Love is supposed to be free. It is not a commody that can be bought, sold, or rented.

We won't need to worry about chavez oil handouts when we come up with a cheap and reliable source of environmentally friendly energy. Oil will be outclassed by something else...

Robertn's arguments only happen if there is almost unlimited resources. Because there is a limited amount of resources we can't have a Utopia. We have to have proper resource management and currently that is capitalism.

There will be some new economic philosophies coming that will change things and maybe solve/create problems. I say look to the stars.

The problem is that if all the sex workers lose their jobs, then they won't be able to feed their kids. Their kids will in turn become fed up and run away from home, probably fail to find a proper job, and end up in the sex industry. Thus the cycle will repeat, ad infinitum.

The sex industry and prostitution is caused by a failure of the state to look after its citizens. Prostitutes are nearly always dirt poor and have drug problems and they need state assistance via clinics if they are to kick their habits and quit a highly exploitive industry.

In my opinion no person on this Earth should be considered so worthless by people around them that their only option in life is to expose themselves for the dirty pleasures of those higher up in society. It is so wrong and it destroys people's dignity!!

This is only true on a large scale when prostitution is illegal. In those cases, prostitution and drugs are mixed because both are controlled by organized crime.

What makes your opinion of what "destroys people's dignity" more important than their own opinions? If people find a sex-related job preferable to the alternatives, what gives you the right to question their own decisions?

Well at least those that can afford to pay are paying, rather than those that can't afford to pay.

Yes but then again what happens when they dont have the money to afford a salary or there is no desire to became wealthy. Also just curious how much bloodshed would it take to get everyone in a one world government, Christians Musliams and Jews cant all just suddenly get along, plus whats the reason for richer countries to sacrifice there resources for poorer countries. And everyones wrong! this is the world of The Giver hes talking about, as they take away all differnces.

Considering that Chavez is trying to get nuclear technology from Iran I would rather not buy the oil.

If Chavez goes nuclear, it will mean the US is less likely to invade, which is a good thing. I don't see why the US should have nuclear weapons and other countries not. :?

You do realize that if the gov't pays for all that, then they assume absolute control over all the rules of these services. The peole actually lose power if all these things are given to them, becasue all gov't services are controled by the gov't.

The reason the US has a right to protest about other countries having nuclear weapons is that most countries in the world have signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, promising not to develop nuclear weapons. Before the treaty came into being, the US, the UK, France, Russia and China already had nuclear weapons. Israel, India and Pakistan refused to sign the treaty. North Korea signed, but are now trying to withdraw.

I certainly don't want nutjob s**thole countries like Iran and North Korea having nuclear weapons.
