If you’re a genius within all of Gardner’s “intelligences,” then you truly are a genius.

As a corollary of that, why do the Chinese just copy American technology through reverse engineering and industrial espionage instead of creating their own? Yes, it is easier, but also derivative and destines them for second rate status.

Utter nonsense.
He hopes that China, which has been industrialized more than a century later than the developed countries, will immediately have the same R & D capability? And he may have never heard of Posterior chamber intraocular lenses (IOLs), thin film solar cells, etc.
Or he should ask who invented the compass and gunpowder. Or ask where those most accurate calculation results of PI in history appear.

Incidentally, many late developing industrial countries in history have carried out large-scale technology plagiarism, including many that currently look like "glamorous". This stage of development in China and India happens to be in the author's life. It is interesting to see how he binds this behavior to a certain nation.

Obvious ignorance and western centralism, sorry.
Equating "not knowing" with "not being" makes people doubt the author's own intelligence.

(Although contemporary China's rigid academic system is certainly one thing.)

In addition, the article mentioned that the recent generations were not as smart as the ancients, because they did not seem to have so many creative talents.
As each discipline becomes more and more sophisticated and complex, anyone trying to build new achievements will need to spend more time studying and researching in more detailed fields - the latter will obviously not be so well known to the public.

This is an outdated thread with outdated views.

Technically, anyone who have IQ scores outside the bell curve is not neurotypical.

NTs can be smart, creative, have a phenomenal talent of a particular thing especially after years of practice, whether driven out of survival, motivated by desire, or whatever.

The current neurotypical profile is average range of IQ of 80-120.
Most of the differences are relative to a country's or it's regional economy levels, overall health, cultural priorities (this includes how competitive or lenient they are) and how well implemented an educational system is.

Balanced cognitive profiles unless it is specified that it's a collective norm; overall not cognitively spiky or asymmetrical in any way past few points (like up to 10 points difference or less).

Allistics, sure, no matter their social and emotional profiles are.
But not neurotypical unless the metric says that the average global IQ is over 140+.

"can", "should" and "will" are all three different things.

According to some websites, about one percent of the population is autistic.

Eight billion people in the solar system

Certainly at least one neurotypical person is a "genius". According to iq tests

And plenty of autistics are not geniuses

Plenty of precious lil "people" neurotypical and autistic, act like they are a lot smarter than they are

Not everyone autistic has a diagnosis for autism

Some diagnoses are misdiagnoses

Some articles claim that iq tests are culturally biased

It is not possible to objectively measure iq score

Your question is way too ambiguous
