Hmmmm........I'm not sure what I vote in the poll. I am defiantly primarily white, but I am 12.5% Native as well.

Not so extreme, since essentially all Jewish Israelis are considered of the same nation, but there used to be some animosity between European Jews and Oriental ones. It doesn't seem to persist in my generation (19-20 years old) between educated people at least, but I think there are places it does, especially Ultra-orthodox circles -- which makes sense, since the different origin groups have somewhat different religious traditions, so they probably consider each other bad influence. Though the European Ultra-orthodox' discrimination towards orientals seems to get all the publicity, for some reason -- perhaps they do discriminate more.

There is no biological reason at all to distinguish between human "races". Humanity as a whole has less genetic variety than some species have in a local population.

Apart from colour there is no real difference between human populations, and colour is an (epigenetic) adaptation to local climate.

The reason you think that "races" look so different is that the human brain has evolved to observe small differences in humans so it can identify them. During early development the brain trains on the faces directly around it, that is why people from other populations look so different to you. This is also why prosopagnosia (inability to recognize faces) can exist.

I could have a similar rant on the crudeness of our male/female differentiation.

Who cares about such things? In the end we are all just glorified apes clinging to a dirt-ball hurtling uncontrolled to an uncaring universe. If we don;t look after each other nothing else will and trying to create sub-groups only alienates and feeds discrimination.

One of your points raises an interesting question.

Many aspies, and auties, have some degree of "faceblindness".

So are the faceblind as aware of "race" as the rest of us?

Whelp, I'm part White-American (because I was born here), and part Native-American. My grandfather was 100% Irish (though, White-American because he was born here); my grandMOTHER was 100% Cherokee.

Skin pigment does not equate to race- there are many white 'races'; a single white/black/brown race does not exist. My family has an English background.
