Today's Blurb took me several attempts. Peterman, Bonnie's friend, died from leukemia that year, and we are at the point where it needed to be shared, in order to keep the timeline accurate. He was a good friend to all of us, and his loss was difficult, even though we had been warned in advance.

Not to long after Peterman's passing, My eldest son experienced several reactions from his friends that called into question in his mind his belief system. During this time he became agitated and emotionally conflicted. Bonnie attempted to sit by him during these times, I believe in an effort to comfort him as he struggled with his internal conflicts.

Bonnie was full of surprises, shocking us with happy behaviors, as they slowly emerged from her shell the longer she stayed with us. The longer she was with us, the more of a happy little clown she would act, always intelligent, but often surprisingly funny. This is the first time we saw one of her very entertaining habits, after she had been with us just over a year, and the Fall was fast working it's magic, getting ready for winter.

I hope this portion of Bonnie's personality brings a smile to your face and warms your heart has it has for us. She is a precious blessing that will be in our hearts forever.

It didn't take long for Bonnie to learn the Holiday routine, from thanksgiving to New years, the food preparations and the dressing of the left overs. It quickly became an annual competition between her and Lacy to see who could score the most tidbits from everyone as they prepared meals and desserts.

Bonnie's Second Christmas marked about a year and a half that she had been with us. It was a major difference from the first Christmas she had spent with us where she hid in her kennel most of the time, coming out only as she realized that the others were getting more treats than she was while she was hiding. It also marked a turning point, where she increasingly accepted, and even sought, the affections of eventually all the humans in the family.

I actually had a chance to earn some money after Christmas, which put me without internet for several days. But I am back.

I tried to write a story format post on my old android while working, but couldn't make it a story. I wanted to compare and contrast the difference of Bonnie from her first holiday season to her second with us and the more I tried to write it in story format, the more I cried.

I decided to switch to just a sharing format, just this once, speaking to you as if we are in person. I will revert to story format but I wanted to speak to everyone a bit normally just this once.

It was a bit odd, and I still cried a lot, but at least it was easier to return to writing as I managed to get things under control. This holiday season without her is really hard. I love her so much. I find myself reaching for her each time I am trying to write something about her, but she isn't there.

I hope this temporary digression from story format isn't too boring. Thanks for the sufferance.

Happy New Year Everyone.

I am happy. I actually earned some money over the Christmas Break and should get paid this week, which means that I will be able to pay some bills for January.

This installment of Bonnie's Blog, I just reviewed the Memories of her 2nd holiday season with us, the little antics she pulled as compared to her first year with us.

Well, I am back, after days without computer and only sporadic internet. Leave it to my ISP to decide to break repeatedly when I am trying to install service packs and updates on my old computer, which break it instead of fixing it. But hopefully I have that taken care of.

Bonnie learned that winters could be really cold here after the holiday season, and I learned that she would potty on the porch if I didn't keep a spot cleaned in the yard that was completely taken down to the grass (no snow to hit her exposed dupe).

During Bonnie's 2nd winter with us, it was much colder than normal, and with more snow than usual for this area. Plastic on the windows didn't seem to be keeping out the cold as well as the year before so we resorted to stapling moving blankets onto the windows for the winter. This made the melancholy of winter far worse than normal, as we had to use lights even during the day and we had to go out into the cold to get any sunshine relief. Our oldest daughter decided to take it upon herself to remodel the boy's room, and it was announced in a rather surprising way. Of course Bonnie immediately got involved in the tasks.

Been up all night trying to thaw frozen pipes, and I have a job interview in 5.5 hrs :P

That winter it was very cold and snowed a lot. The children set up a sled run with a snow bank at the bottom to stop them when they reached it. Bonnie was overly enthusiastic about chasing them, as was Lacy.

Each time the children would make a snowman or two, Bonnie felt obligated to give each one of them a telling off, letting them know who was boss

During really cold spells we put both plastic and moving blankets on our windows, dark side out, reflective side in, to help combat the extreme cold and heavy winds. Then we have to use lights in the house even during the day time. This can alter everyone's mood, even the pets.

This is the first time we took the blankets down off the window with bonnie participating, as the winter lightened up and permitted us to enjoy the light coming in through the windows.

It had been a hard winter so when spring arrived it was an exciting morning, everybody was happy and grateful. It was as if someone had flipped a switch and overnight it went from gloomy cold to extremely warm.

That spring, after winter had broken, everyone had quickly taken advantage of the warm sunny spring days, only to be surprised by a sudden, out of season, snow storm.
