^ you think too much lolz @ (Deus_ex_machina). your metal list is okay, you're quite a fan of bands of a sabbath influence(though you could say that about all metal, I'm sure you know what I mean). What do you think of Swans?

there has not been a decent tr00 blackmetal album I've heard that came out after 1995. anything ive heard after that is a poor attempt to rehash what's already been said.

If I want black metal I'm more likely to listen to Gorgoroth or Belphegor.

Anyone heard Gorguts and their album Obscura? Should fit nicely into this thread. Mind-melting avant-garde technical death metal - really superb.

And yeah I don't think extreme has to mean particularly fast or brutal. I don't like debating genres but I usually consider stuff that's way outside of the mainstream metal realm as extreme. Doom/death, funeral doom, drone doom all fit the extreme label to me, along with the more obvious brutal death, black metal, etc.

Some others I'd like to note:
- Xasthur
- Blut Aus Nord
- Beherit
- Enslaved
- Summoning
- Windir
- Wyrd
- Morbid Angel
- Death

I like a lot of the stuff already mentioned too...
