My son sent me a Steam message. Steam is selling the original The Sims. The Sim Legacy Collection was release on January 31, 2025. It cost $19.99 plus tax.

Can you build fantasy houses in Sims?

I enjoyed decorating houses in Elder Scrolls. The graphics in that game are breathtaking. They even had ways to set the path of toons inside and outside the house. Truly epic fantasy world building. I miss it.

I always thought Elder Scrolls housing would make an amazing simulation builder game, all on its own.

I think others should answer this too.
Fantasy houses are all I use to make.
There is a limit to two stories. There are a wide variety of wall surfaces (paint, wall paper, brick, wood, and more). There are a wide variety of floor types (wood, ceramic, brick, carpet, and more).
Walls can be placed at right angles, or 45 degree angles. I don't think there are rounded surfaces.
There are a variety of staircases, include spiral. Does anyone call spiral staircases corkscrew staircases? I don't, but it just occurred to me that could be another term for them. I've never heard anyone call them that.
There are a wide variety of things that can furnish the house.
Then when one is done, it will like be too expensive for any Sim to buy. They start out with $20,000. There are cheats that can provide one with money in increments of 50,000 or 1,000.
So one could buy an inexpensive house, get 100,000 or more, and then move into the fantasy home. I did that once.

I currently play The Sims 2 Legacy Collection which comes with several addons. I bought it at Steam.
The cheats can be found with a web search.

Also, if it isn't clear, EA or Steam, have released Legacy Collections for both The Sims, and The Sims 2. The Sims 2 cost $29.99. It is ten dollars more than The Sims, but the graphics and the Sim engine is nicer, in my opinion. Also, all dollar amounts are U.S. dollars.

One last thing. If one doesn't cheat more money, the Sim will need to find a job. I've had a total of three sims. One I cheated with, one I cheated a little with (they died, old age), and a mother and step son (no cheating, they are doing alright so far).

Hmm…this is interesting. So after you build a house in SIMS, it has to be sold? That would take the fun out of it for me. I like to escape from real life drama with the video games that I play. I wouldn’t enjoy a game that mimics real life. Real life sucks enough. lol

The housing in elder scrolls was done much differently. Building mats could be farmed with the toon in the world environment or earned via treasures found doing quests, which made it super fun. There was no rent because the bones of each property were purchased first with ingame money. Furnishing the property took a while because it took time to collect the desired items. No job, just questing fun. And nothing like real life. :D None of my toons had kids.
