I fell awkward when people said “Merry Christmas” to me when I was a JW because I wasn’t supposed to say it back, not even “Happy Holidays.”

I would awkwardly say “thank you” but I felt sort of rude.

As an atheist, Christmas is my favorite holiday. I just leave Christ out of it. :twisted:

I prefer "Dear carbon based lifeforms". Can't get much more inclusive than that.

Why not use the title of that thread started by Isabella?

"Liars, and Gaslighters".

It would maintain the same "L and G" initials of the old phrase, but would be more inclusive.

They ain't really going to stop people saying Merry Christmas, are they? I mean, come on.
This is why people become anti-PC. It's not that we want to argue or anything, it's just things like this make a lot of people roll their eyes and worry about a future where so many common phrases are cancelled just because someone might be offended. Then it makes us sound racist, but we're originally not racists.

Yes. There are people who for various reasons don't celebrate Halloween such as believing Halloween is Satanic or immoral and yet I don't hear of complaints about people greeting people with "Happy Halloween!" in October. As far as I know, those who don't celebrate Halloween typically are not offended if someone says "Happy Halloween!" to them and they will typically just return the greeting.

This. I don't celebrate Halloween but people can say happy Halloween to me if they like and I won't go all Karen on it.
It's just a conversational pleasantry, like saying "good morning" or "good afternoon". What's to be offended about?

I think people these days just choose to be offended.
