The people who tell you you're too old for Elmer aren't worth listening to.

It's not unusual for adults to like cartoons aimed at a younger audience. If they didn't, we wouldn't have artists working on these shows. Or at least, artists who don't all hate their job. I've met my fair share of animators, designers and artists who enthusiastically talk about unique walk cycles and cartoon characters who inspired them to pursue their interest.

Cartoons are fun. You get to exaggerate with them and tell more outlandish stories.

Likewise with authors who write children's books. They don't all hate their job either.

To quote C. S. Lewis:
"A children's story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good children's story in the slightest."

I have a childlike way of looking at the world. I live in a Gingerbread Winter Wonderland with lots of mountains and trees. Every day is Christmas in my world. I don't care if people think I'm too old to be living in my own little world. It's not their world to judge.

Hmmmm.......maybe Munich is more my city than London after all. You can't see mountains or trees in London.

Why does it matter if they don't believe you? Sometimes one has to accept that other people are wrong about something and that they can't be corrected.

I knew a lady in her 70's going on to her 80's who loved Tweety Bird.

Me & my girlfriend recently had a conversation about how toy commercials show kids playing with the toys who seem a bit older than the age lots would expect kids to be playing with those toys. It's probably a marketing strategy but we're not sure how much influence it's having on suciety.

I'm afraid I believe in age-appropriate interests, and the same goes for "gender-appropriate" ones (Fashion for girls and cops for boys). To be fair, I enjoy Looney Tunes, but I wouldn’t say I’m a fan of it - just watch it every Saturday morning.

Plenty of adults still like kidlike stuff. I'm 39 and still like Hello Kitty and video games and I like to color by numbers and I like BAB and have other plushies and I like Legos. I prefer oldskool toys. I'm into Mini Brands as well.

yeah!! age appropriate interests are a bore :/
f*** social norms! i still watch octonauts, their animal facts r outdated but i understand that you can't rlly replace episodes once every 10 years. and besides: the artstyle is charming and the characters are too :3
also, maybe metal gear solid is too adult for me? but i digress

As long as you aren’t hurting anyone or anything with your interests, I don’t see a reason for you to be concerned with what others think of your preferences or your hobbies, Elmer. Be safe and be true to yourself. Shamers are usually reflecting their own insecurities about perceived expectations of them. You can stop the dominos effect by telling them it’s none of their business.
