sodarktheshadows, all I can say is that a good magician never reveals his secrets.

(Except to say, a little bit computer, a lot oil paint, plus a lot of time spent.)

I'm no professional, so let's see wot you have to show, eh ???

I draw characters from video games that I like. My drawings aren't good enough to be classed as art though, as I copy stuff.

I would like to see because I find others abilities to draw well no matter if it's drawing characters amazing.

Prof_Pretorius, your painting of the ship is great.

I am very good at "copying". Have a difficult time drawing from imagination and excellent time replicating other's work...Sucks, really, as I wish I could do so much more!

Same here. I can draw my own character though.

Wow, lots of new things to see, what a treat! :D I've some catching up to do this morning...Proffy, I love your painting. The water looks so real, like it is moving. That's worth framing I think.

Kitsy, your crab lady is so funny

makelifehappen, wow, you do such a lot of different things...I love your scarf, and your scrapbook layout. The angel is good, is it rubber stamped? I like the way it has different colours in it.

sodarktheshadows, yes, do post some of your work please :)

Berserker, thanks for posting the links to your drawings, I like them. I find drawing really difficult.

This is a brilliant thread. It's great to see what everyone does.

Thank you. I really love that scarf, not many can be compared 'round here.

The angel was an cardboard stencil I found in one of my daughters MANY fairy book collections (one of her special interests, by far ) and I used many of these little ink pads to fill:

*ahhh...the joys of living 2 seconds away from a massive scrapbooking store :D (I am sure they were getting half of my paycheck at one stage )

I'm a little bit like that with some things. I've focused mostly on writing, but I've also dabbled in plenty of acting and drawing (though I've never had formal drawing experience). I write songs, come up with melodies, but don't have any real musical talent when it comes to actual playing. Also there have been a lot of books I started but never finished, usually changing the plots too many times....

both acting and writing can help with your writing abilities. Coming from an Acting background, I find that Acting helps with character development and learning the ins and outs of dialogue. Drawing helps with visualisation and description. I think learning these crafts alongside writing can help fiction writers become more than Exhibitionists and become Storytellers.

I was always into drawing. Never liked painting. Just pencil and ink. I like drawing different kinds of faces (different shapes, ages, ethnicities, etc),scientific diagrams (cells and whatnot), and nonrepresentational symbols (spirals are my favorite); that's what I'm good at. I can't draw anything else that well. I stopped altogether for several years because art teachers kept trying to make me do still life, which I hate, and I do NOT take criticism graciously. But lately I've been doing it every day again. Right now I'm working on fractals, since I've seen some beautiful fractal art on DeviantArt and want to try my hand at it. :)

As a kid I either wanted to be an artist or a scientist, but the older I got, I started getting disillusioned with it. Mostly because people kept telling me It's not a lucrative career (which was actually honest advice looking back), but also because my "skills" were so narrow. And I hate still life. I can't stress that enough. Recently I realized some people do very well within a small niche and I shouldn't surrender something I enjoy doing.
