I'm just curious. Why does everyone find their music sexist? A couple songs I can think of can be a little over the top (e.g. "Something in Your Mouth," "Next Contestant") but there are a few songs that also speak out against domestic abuse and one I can think of that encourages honesty and two-way communication.

Then again, I'm not the best at interpreting lyrics.

Something In Your Mouth is one of the worst songs I've ever heard.

Sexist Songs I Hate--
I could never figure out how so many sexist songs became popular.

Ok so like these are from the sixties - I am not up on current stuff

Johnny Get Angry - ya, like prove you love me by getting jealous that sure is a great way to have a relationship

It's My Party -- If the guy can't be loyal to you then why the hell would you be so desparte to want him

Take A Letter Maria - workaholic, looses wife, hits on secretary -mmm call me in a year when you get your sh** together

Mandy - Honey I would not be waiting around pineing for you -you sterotypical sailor

The Wanderer - get laid as much as possible - way to commit

I Can't Stop - You go around hitting on every woman and want me to sit home and wait for you to out grow your adolecent fantasies

Beast of Burdon - So what you are saying is your not going to get a job and help out around the house but you want me to just have sex with you, like that is going to happen

Do people actually buy into this stuff?

Deep inside every man who has ever been in a relationship with a woman there is one thing on his mind: whatever you do don't let that woman control you (if I have to I'm gonna hit her with a piece of fried chicken).

you're thinking of "Brandy" ( by Looking Glass). not "Mandy"(another gal who figured in a Barry Manilow hit). Brandy was the barmaid in the seaport town. I guess it is odd that she "loves a man who isnt around". I always liked the song. My sister always hated it.
I dunno.

Dion said that the Wanderer was meant to be ironic- the boastful narrator of the song actually reveals to the listener how empty his existence really is.

Some songs are sexist. Some are meant to be ironic. Some are just love gone wrong songs.
You gotta have a little drama or there's no story.

Nowadays we have songs that go " me and my Cous' need to find me a freaky ho to suck my d******k"

So you cant be too picky.

LOL - there is an old song called 'Picken a Chicken with Me" - but I guess that is for just when your in love.

CowboyFromHell - I like Dion too, ya good beat and you can dance to it. But sometime I would love to just mangle all his old 8 Track and cassette tapes.

And wow , I can't even keep up with all the music now

The question is: is a guy like the Wanderer really any worse than Runaround Sue?

After all- She took his love and ran around with every single guy in town!

But his love for her only grows and grows.

In fact Dion said he " married runaround sue."

( the wanderer was based on real older guy in his nieghborhood, but aparently runaround sue was based on the girl he is still married to).

Anything that's Akon related, he must be the most irritating and annoying singer today. Charming sexist ditties such as "Smack That" or "Sexy B*tch" make every pore in my body itch, i feel violated everytime i hear his voice. Must women be viewed as toys by this swaggering c**t?

Honorable mentions go to N Dubz, one of the WORST groups in the UK at this moment in time. Half of their fanbase consists of teenage chavettes and wannabe idiot gangsters who think they're hard. If i hear that idiot Dappy say "Na Na Niiiii" again, i'll smash my radio in.

As for Miley Cyrus, such a complete slapper that's only famous because of her one-hit wonder dad.

My Milkshakes by Kelis... I mean just because her milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard doesn't mean she gets to brag about it and make everybody who doesn't have milkshakes jealous, pissed off, and depressed...

I once caught a taxi for a 45 minute drive from one end of Manchester to the other. The taxi driver played an Akon album in its entirety. I was with my Mum. We joked later that it was like a concept album.

In one song he's in a strip club 'I see you winding grinding up there on that pole...etc...etc' (it gets worse)
In another song, he was all 'smack dat 'til you get sore.' (not that spanking is sexist, it's just that most of the album was bragging about his prowess and dominance).
Then hilariously, towards the end of the album, he sang a song that was all self-pity and 'you never really got to know me'. I thought, 'duh you had a fling with some pole dancer'. With his whiny voice and everything, he sounded so pathetic.

Though I read an interview by him once and he didn't seem like that IRL. He's a mentor to Lady Gaga, which means he isn't scared of her, which means there must be a shred of real man in him. Though his voice IS really, really, really whiny.

EMINEM!! !
Is the most offensive sexist person I know, and anything by him makes me cross.

I don't like Lady Gaga either, she undermines us girls, portraying us as desperate objects. Ugh :?
