Did your parents ever talk to you about sex?

When I was a little girl and wanted to be able to tell which animals were boys and which ones were girls, my mom explained to me that "boys have hot dogs" and "girls have holes". When I got older, she told me to never let a boy put his "hot dog" in my "hole" until I was married and ready to have children, because it would result in a baby. That's all she taught me. Unfortunately, she was one of those people who didn't agree with birth control, masturbation, or homosexuality. I've changed her mind since then, but for the time being, I had to learn all other things about sex from sources such as the internet. My sex ed class in middle school wasn't even a big help. It was abstinence-only, and they never even told us what sex was or what condoms were. They basically just told us that sex was bad and that whatever condoms were, they tended to not work.

Nope.

I got the talk when I was 12. Between magazines and school I knew or had guessed most of it already. It was embarrassing, but I guess those talks are never fun lol. But I'm glad my mom cared enough to have the talk at all.

My mum tried but I started sobbing and ran away yelling they would go through it at school. I was quite young mind you hence my strong reaction. Technically still young lol.

Not really. If I heard a word that I did not know what it was and I would ask my Mum, she would go red and say "Ask your father!" He would also go red and say "Ask your mother" and I would get no where.
If I pinned them down and demanded an answer, I would get the reply "Buy a book", but what book? I never bought a book. Never knew what to buy!
Anyway. I never forget when I was 18, and my Mum was pregnant and my Mum and my Dad did not know how to tell my brother and I... But they did tell us. I suddenly realized that my parents had had sex. I didn't talk to them for about two weeks! Then my Mum asked what was wrong, and I told her "You've had sex with Dad!"
She said "Where do you think you came from?" I did not know. I had never thought about it. I blanked the sex education in school as they kept saying rude words... And the diagrams I drew. I never knew they were sexual organs! I just copied them from the whiteboard (The science laboritories had the new whiteboards) into my book. I did not know what it was.

Well. It came as a shock!

I remember when I was around 13 and my Dad said to me "Now don't let me hear that you have been messing around with girls!" I was puzzled. I kept away from the girls in my school for ages! I did not know he meant a sexual context! I just kept my distance from girls.

No but they never really had to being a curious person and being on the internet don't leave much room for innocence about those things. They talked to my sister about it. but my brother is a huge pervertI think they had a talk with my sister tho. So at this point sexual stuff is just common conversation of with my family.

No one told me. At least never directly and never explicitly.
I never had this so-called "The Talk" to anyone, ever. The closest I got was a still running joke that my sister came from a carabao's dung.


With my mom, never. But I did asked questions what it was like once when I was like 8. Never with my dad.

My grandpa (dad's side) was rather crude yet indirect with his brief description, but I get the picture. I was 7.
My grandma (dad's side) would just laughed it off.

Who actually told me how to get pregnant by having sex was actually a house helper we had (who happened to be pregnant that time and I asked how) when I was just 10.


It seems that I somewhat figured without anyone ever telling me the details.

When I found out about it directly on my own, I was like makes sense. I was 13+.
It doesn't (or does) help that when I first saw porn when I was 14, the closest description I got was, my words: "Human Mating documentary, dramatized."


Yet in terms of suggesting me getting it on, and hearing others' sex lives -- it's my SPED teacher.
She'd be poking me about it when I was 20 or so.

My mom started telling me the truth about all of it at a very young age (maybe 3 or 4 - I understood stuff early). As a result (perhaps), I stayed a virgin until I was 28 however, I don't think it warped me. I was always grateful that she didn't hide stuff or lie.

I think my mom and dad tried to tell me about sex. I was 7 or 8. I told them not to bother, and that I had already looked it up in the encyclopedia and read about it in the Eyewitness "mammals" book.

My parents never told me about sex. I learned about sex when I saw an illustration of sexual intercourse in a library book when I was 10.

I had conservative christian parents so was not able to talk about anything except homework, chores and when I would be getting a part-job.

My mother got cross when I mentioned the human relations teacher asked us to talk to mom and dad about sex.

I never really asked my parents about sex because they're divorced and have different views.

My mum lightly mentioned the birds and the bees to me as I was growing up. I knew all about periods at the age of 4. I knew that boys have a penis (I saw my brother's penis when we had baths together). By age 6 I knew that your parents have sex to make you. But I saw it all from an innocent viewpoint, and I didn't think there was anything rude or funny about it. I didn't really think about it in detail, I just pictured my parents quickly doing it on the couch (even though they probably did it in their bed) to make me and then not do it again. I'm glad my mum was just open and honest about it, so I was all prepared for it before I hit puberty. I saw it as a fact of life and not anything to be sneaky about.

My grandmother told me if I sit on a boy's lap I need to put a telephone book between us.
She also said not to get hickies.

My parents didn't teach me anything.
My mother never even told me about periods.

Not until I was into my mid-20s and still single, my mom made a comment that I'm supposed to be going out and doing things with women. More of a dig at me than anything else.

But otherwise no.

They did not specifically tell me anything, because I already knew everything at an early age. Read the 101 Questions about sex book when I was 9. And I was a late bloomer and didn't need to learn too soon anyway.

Sex didn't feel like a big deal in my family. It's nice but not all that captivating or rewarding or secretive. Sex is like eating a good dinner with relatives. If I didn't manage to go and just watched TV instead that's OK, too. There are things in life much more exciting. I suppose it could be much more important to someone with strong sex drive and live with parents who forbid it.
