I don't want to speak for Jamesy but I don't think he wants to lose his mates because of this one guy. It's possible this guy is jealous because Jamesy is better looking than him and he's insecure and wants to prove he is somehow better. It's just bad luck he has ingratiated himself in Jamesy's friendship volunteer group.

What the heck is a ‘friendship volunteer group?’ Real friends don’t need to be paid or coaxed to volunteer for friendship. That’s f-ing sick.

James’s, it sounds like these people are using you. If so, it’s better to leave them and find new friends than to endure a-holes. Life is too short to stay with jerks.

Huh? that's not what I meant. Jamesy is part of a group of volunteers who are also his friends. Its among this group the Chinese dude is also a volunteer and part of the aforementioned friendship group.

Many people volunteer because they want to make a difference, help out or contribute to the community/environment etc. But a lot of people also join up to make friends and/or socialise.

I don't see evidence these friends are using Jamesy?

There is a MASSIVE difference between joining others to volunteer for a cause vs “hey, anyone want to volunteer to be this guy/girl’s friend?” Real friends will like you as you are, where you are, without needing to be paid or influenced.

If they are baiting him in any way then they are using him. Also, if I knew that a friend wanted to date someone, I wouldn’t steal or manipulate that person’s relationships. This entire scenario sounds contrived and manipulative.

I think you're misunderstanding what Jamesy was meaning.

Another way of describing them would be coworkers from volunteering he's friendly with, not people who's volunteer work is being friends with Jamesy.

Why not just say volunteer group then? What is the purpose of adding the word ‘friendship’ to that sentence?

the point is the volunteers become friends if they see each other regularly enough. I think a group of volunteers are going to have more in common in terms of values than co-workers in a paid job.

Hi Jamsey:

I thought about something else. Competetive people will also get close to anyone they feel threatened by make it sound like they want to be your friend. When in reality, they don't have your best interest at heart and want to know everything about you. People like this often enjoy to see you struggle and will most likely brag about how they are getting ahead.
