just btw, have had several advise me to set the taps at the sink, kitchen and bathroom to dribble,a tiny amount of water constantly in below 32F temps ..suppose to be that flowing water does not freeze? Generally this is a good approach. The water underground is warmer then the water on the surface. So in general when the temperatures drop below freezing, you are preventing the water from freezing in the pipes because you are bringing in warmer water into you indoor waterlines.

But unfortunately this can become a problem if the temperatures drop really, really low or if you do not use your water (such as being away from your unheated home for several days).

News claims its 22 degrees outside ..pretty sure it is actually colder, ( i think) ..
Yes it seems I should have learned all these cold weather home tips..but as sure as the seasons change, my memory
for season to season..lasts exactly 1 season . So this thread is very much appreciated ...! 8O .
And if you haven't hired a plumber recently, You better have deep pockets ! And last guy fixxed one thing . But wanted more to actually finish the job. Was like , they made it functional , but wanted more to actually fix the issue. So it would not happen again. 8O  :skull: .....

Yes indeed in the areas, you better have a winter change of clothing . currently at 17 degrees F ..is a serious freeze.
In reality in this weather, if your outside more than a few minutes, like 1-2 ...you better ve wearing gloves/ mittens and several thick layers of clothing .And a face mask . Best boots you can find ,with fat fuzzy socks .....Am not just saying this ..People lose limbs to frostbite here. And if you perseverate in the cold, without attention to your warmth ..You best
find goid ways to maintain your body temerature . 17 degrees F is 15 DEGREES BELOW freezing in fahrenheit.
Makes me wonder how anything just does not become brittle and break . ? 8O (More coffee please).

Well its inching closer and closer to freezing. This morning the temperatures dropped to 31.1 degrees F.

I spoke too soon. The temperatures have continued to fall and it is now down to 30.7 degrees F and it is snowing and the snow is starting to accumulate on the ground. It is turning into a Winter Wonderland.

Awe that sounds lovely.....we have the cold , 28f daytime is suppose to be 30f but too dry for snow. Think my body like the humidity that comes with snow... helps balance the dryness from heating systems. imho

Some light snow in northern Ohio now, nothing much by our standards.

Off and on snow today. We got an inch or so, I believe. It's very dry and powdery. It makes a fun "crackle" sound when I walk on it!! Lol

Coldest air yet on the way the next few days. Might not make it out of the teens one day.

A couple of years ago, I arranged with someone to come take my picture one Sunday morning. I was going to stand in front of the bank sign showing the temperature at zero degrees while wearing my usual clothes -- hat, pearl button shirt, levis, boots, and denim jacket.

Unfortunately, he couldn't do it that morning. He worked for the city at the time and was out driving a snow plow.

So, I was taught things freeze at zero degrees....well my brsin goes..yes yes.they freeze solid, even water....
Sooo...why doesnt the rubber tires just crack and break apart ,when you drive on them. I mean very basic ...? yes/ No ..? ..Okay I get that certain rubber compounds can make things more plyable at certain temperatures..
But that was mot tsught in 9 th grade s irnce class . And I was not headed for the sciences....So I get turned lose in the world , never quite getting the idea of things not freezing solid outside, when its this cold .....Even saw kidz getting thier tongues stuck to cold metal stuff outside..
