One thing I know about Christmas in Australia is that there won't be any snow because Christmas is in the summer there. Then again, even in the US there's many places that never snow on Christmas. I roll my eyes whenever they show it snowing on Christmas in California or Florida - like that will ever happen!

Christmas is still Christmas with or without snow. Suck it up, Bono and Bob Geldof.

On the other hand, Christmas in Australia is perfect for barbecues!

Fake snow in both Cali and Floridamanland thanks to movie productions. :p

While I can't recall ever bbq-ing On Christmas Day, it's plenty warm enough here for it. I typically bbq year round. It's only been a couple times during some cold snaps that it's been difficult to bbq because it's been so cold that propane stays liquified and barely gases off enough to light the bbq.. that once or twice I couldn't really get the bbq to heat up and abandoned the idea. But being in the one spot in Canada that doesn't get a deep freeze over the Winter, that's rare and for the most part there's no problem bbq'ing every month of the year.

It's really quite warm and mild this winter, so could bbq any day. Patio has a cover over it so it doesn't even matter if it's pissing rain.

I've never had a barbeque at Christmas either. Today (Christmas Day) would have been terrible for any outdoor event here in Melbourne- it's been raining for most of the day, causing floods in some places.

The rain has just eased of here but the dark grey clouds remain. I'm wearing a winter jacket, shivering cold outside in the middle of an Australia summer. Quite something.

Today has been warm and muggy. I have overfilled myself with nibbles and way too many prawns. Saving a small space for some trifle soon. Off to the movies in the morning to see the new Aquaman film.

I don't think it could rain hard enough to cancel bbq capabilities at home. There's an aluminium and glass cover over the patio so we can step out and be dry, cook near the edge of it but still under cover.

Got a huge thunderstorm for Christmas, lots of bent and broken trees to clean up in the back yard. More storms forecast for this afternoon...

Forecast is for more heavy showers in Melbourne in the afternoon of Boxing day. After that will be a string of nice fine days.

At least it's been sunny for most of the day so far. It was really nice to be able to go for a long walk this morning.

Very light rain here this evening. Probably turn to heavier rain as the night progresses. Most of our year’s weather is just various forms of rain, really.

We had another walk this evening and managed to avoid any rain. I kept my eye on the BOM radar rain map and waited for the worst of the clouds to pass over. And the forecast storm never arrived, fortunately.

I walked over to a friends for a 2nd visit this eve to see his fam open some gifts I gave ‘em. It was raining a bit so I took an umbrella. Wouldn’t have cared if I got soaked tho - they’re pretty VIP on my Christmas list. Plus my friend mentioned this eve he’s been going through chemo for 2 years and has stage 4 cancer -> he never told me that before; only said that he had “some autoimmune thing,” he was dealing with. He never said anything else and I never asked because it’s none of my business. Now I hope he texts/calls and we catch up and he gives me the low down on his health and prognosis.
