What games do you think didn't get the attention they deserved?

To me it's 1.) Okami (PS2): I already posted what I thought was great about this game in the Okami topic (actually, I forgot to mention the Brush Powers, which were awesome and gave this game it's own unique mechanic). Although the critics went nuts for this game, it just didn't sell well in the gaming market.

2.) Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! (DS): Quite possibly the greatest import title ever made. Ouendan! is a rhythm game that follows an Ouendan (Japanese cheer squad) as they help people with problems through cheer. The kind of people they help are a student who's trying to ace his exams, a kid trying to beat a bully at dodge ball, and a chubby Cleopatra lose weight for her date with Julius Caesar (I think). The game play requires you to tap buttons, follow a ball on a grid, and spin a wheel all to the beat of awesome J-pop. Those that have played Elite Beat Agents know what I'm talking about. Even though the text is in Japanese, you don't need to know a single word of it to understand how to play or what's going on in this game. I highly recommend this game to any rhythm game fanatic, or any lover of Japanese titles.

Those are just two that I can think of at the moment. Let me know if this topic has already been discussed in this forum. If it hasn't, be sure to add some. Thank you.

The Darkness, Star Wars: Force Unleashed. People seem to dislike them but they're fun games.

The Darkness (360): played last week, great story, great graphics, stripping and eating hearts is sweeeeet, GREAT game overall.

And then my beloved Rare gems, Viva Pinata, Viva Pinata TIP and Banjo & Kazooie Nuts and Bolts. Unfortuantely Rare games never sell well, I've read Peter Molyneux wants to help them find a stable identity (which I believe they already have) to sell more (my opinion is that the low sales are caused by their particular identity which appeals only to some gamers). I hope he succeds, I want more Rare games !

I borrowed the PS2 version from my cousin. It was pretty good.

I think that "Gradius V" might be the most underrated PS2 game.

Project GunMetal

XBOX game. basically you fought as a robot that could change between jet and land-walker. I really enjoyed it. Nice graphics and needed a bit of strategy to get right.

Unfortunately they stopped production.

The Darkness is great, it has been one of my most replayed 360 game, it is an FPS but quite different to many other FPS's, funny how people say they are all the same but The Darkness is a definite exception. Also I quite enjoy Rare games too, Viva Pinata was fun and adicting, tjough a little quirky. Nuts n Bolts was good too, guess problem was fans who would mostly buy it were expecting a platform game, but I found it realy good to experiment, I had a bit of problem in that I continued experimenting in my head after playing for a length of itme.

Maybe also Chronocles of Ridick: Dark Athena, sure a lot of it was just a re high definition, but I enjoyed some of the new bits like cool gun, though it turned it into more of a shooter then stealth. But my Brother was quite enjoying the Butcher bay part of it, as he didn't play it first time, he got quite into it.

Mystical Ninja on the N64. You could battle a group of insane dancers known as the Peach Mountain Shogunate with any of the following people: a relatively typical female samurai/ninja... thing, a man who fought with a pipe and by throwing coins lit on fire, a morbidly obese man with a selection of hammers (and, if I recall, some kind of meat on a bone), and a ninja who is an android who requires two giant batteries being shoved into his back. Actions were frequently commented on by either a creature or a statue known as Mr. Elly Fant. A minigame involved throwing barrels at a fat guy to force him to trip a few times to get past a bridge. One of your best friends traded his home to the Peach Mountain Shogunate in exchange for, depending on your region, car magazines and posters or porn.

Do you really need anything else?

Aliens vs. Predator for PC-This game was awesome, and the marine campaign was one of the most intense gaming experiences I've had. Playing as the predator was really fun as well

Dead to Rights-In some ways, I consider this game to be better than Max Payne. The John Woo style gunfights, combined with the ability to disarm foes and use human shields really made you feel like an action hero.

MDK-Great music, fast-paced gameplay, and a quirky sense of humor made this very memorable to me. Its a shame that barely anybody remembers it.

Thief 2 is the best game I've ever played. Seems like everyone's heard of it, thanks to the Xbox sequel, but few have actually played it.

Okami(Wii/PS2), MDK(PC/Mac/PSX), Perfect Dark Zero(360 - Underated as in people hate it more than they should, not as in its not well known), Geist(GC).

I'm not sure I'd call earthbound underrated anymore, but it definitely was underrated when it came out.
