I find it fun to exaggerate my movements and 'feel' it all?

Lately I've discovered that I'm more happy and my mood is up if I really 'feel' each arm movement, walk or whatever I'm doing. To sort of do everything in a slightly exaggerated manner. Whether I'm flipping the duvet cover, moving a mouse, throwing something in to the bin etc... I like to feel each movement.

I find throwing objects especially amusing, I sort of hold my hand out for a bit after it's been thrown and watch it glide slowly to its destination. Or when I walk I purposely have more of a bounce to my step.

I find it much more fun and joyful to move like this than if I'm just going through auto-pilot and not thinking about everything I touch or how I move.

It's sort of hard to explain, but can anyone else relate to this or am I just a freak? :) Even now when I'm typing this I feel my fingers hitting each key at a time, despite typing so quickly. I don't like going through the motions.

I can definitely relate. I have to watch myself especially when I am around NT's.

 You're really NOT the only person!

I'm very much the same. I spend a lot of time dancing around my apartment/flat, simply because of the way the movement feels. Even with the small things, as you've already listed, I think it might be something to do with getting a slight buzz out of the sensory input.

Not sure though.

Deep pressure and stemming get so much press that people forget the other needs some of us have. I am like you. Without kinesthetic sensations, my body gets disorganized. I like the feedback best that I get when I am actively doing martial arts or yoga - they are both intense and use the whole body.

I think it could be to do with that! I can remember being told off a lot as a child for skipping down the street by my dad, but it made me feel good. "Only girls skip"

Oh yes, I do the same thing. I sit and rock when at the computer because I love the squishy feel of the mattress. You also catch me trailing my hand along the wall as I walk down the hallway. I like to touch things.

And the ball throwing is something I do to, like I'm frozen in the moment after I throw the ball. I don't know why, but it feels... right somehow, like thats how it should be done.

If your a freak, then we all are freaks. I have to do everything in a well paced manner. Everyone tells me that I have a hell of a pimp walk. I eat slow, you have to respect your food. And I always Dance with my son; like no one is looking.

:D This forum is great because it stops you feeling so alone. As much as I enjoy my own company, it feels good to know there's others like me out there.

:D Wow! for a couple of months, i've been doing this! :D
I have found that stimming and thinking out loud in public (including random noises) have by far outweighed the social embarassments that have been crushing my soul for SO many years! :D
I hope this feeling lasts for ever for ALL of us! :D

I do this a lot with stretching.. I used to do it more, and am trying to more again, because I usually feel better when I do. I also like to wear shoes with split soles so that I can stand on my toes. :P

What are shoes with split soles? Would you be able to post a photo?

I do this too. It's like I'm acting out all my movements, as though I'm rehearing for a play.

Im the opposite. I hate using my arms for anything, I have poor coordination and a poor sense of body especially in the upper half. I have great difficulty coordinating my muscles especially for fine movements.

Ive always had a bit more luck with my leg movements. I find it less stressful, probably because there are a smaller amount of larger muscles to use so it is simpler.

I love dancing but I never move the upper half of my body much... I also pace around as a stim but I have no arm or head related stims. Weird huh? Im sort of like a pair of legs with a brain sitting on top.

This may be totally irrelevant, but after a bit of snow where there is a covering of the fluffy stuff, I like stamping my feet really hard on pavement as I walk. It makes the snow scatter to a degree that makes your soleprint about twice as wide as it really is.

I'm so glad I'm not the only person who does this! I think it's a form of stimming. It really lifts my mood and makes it much easier to do tedious tasks. It's also good as people can't always tell you're doing it so it's a bit of a public-friendly stim.

Sorry to bump a 10 year old thread. (I found it through Google while searching to see if people do this) But hopefully some others will be interested and able to relate as I've not seen much discussion on this.
