In the vain of Cowboy Bebop. I tried watching Neon Genesis Evangelion but it wasn't for me. I've also watched a few of Hayao Miyazaki's films and enjoyed them, namely Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and Howl's Moving Castle. Any other suggestions?

Relax, turn off the lights, expand your mind, and watch Mushi Shi

It's a quiet little anime, perhaps one of the greatest hidden gems out there.
It is one of the most mind blowing experiences I've yet received from an anime.

The fact that every episode is free on Hulu is just icing on the cake...

Here you go mate. Breathe deep and enjoy!! 8)

If you can find it, get Gungrave. Very good story as well as some great action.

I'd also suggest that you check out Outlaw Star while you're at it.

If you're looking for a realistic sci-fi drama, you can't go wrong with Planetes. And Death Note is a brilliant psychological thriller with a strong supernatural element.

If you like an anime that keeps you in suspense till the very end, then Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion is for you.

Well it can be good to get some variety. Since you have seen Cowboy bebop I would asume that you have mostly seen dub. Death Note is a good thinking anime, can be a bit dark and it may be a bit confusing with whether you suport the main character, but it is good. Hellsing is pretty good, it is best to watch the TV series then watch the OAVs, it is a bit gorey but is a good watch. If you want to go for something a little more romantic, Chobits is a good watch, might look like a romantic anime that covers a relationship between a human and robot might not go very deep, but this also covers the topic is it right, and that people are losing relationships between each other, also good look at Japanese society. If you enjoyed studio Ghibli a movie you might enjoy is The Girl Who Leapt Through Time which can have a simular feel, though I enjoyed it a little more then them.

One of my favirout anime companies is Kyoto Animation, which has many good anime, my favirout being The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, which is a very popular anime (don't be too freaked out over certain things and it is best to watch in original broadcast order not the chronological order). Another one is Full Metal Panic though first season isn't done by KyoAni, it is a goood mix between mecha and school life, though it is mixed up in second season (Fumoffu) where it takes the battle field into the school yard (paroding itself, and the back for The Second Raid., by the way English dub makes me cringe. There are some good slice of Life; likeLucky Star there is no plot, but can be an easy watch with nice humour with anime references, and the moe fest K-ON! that recently just finished, also an easy watch. And though it might feel not feel like a good genre, the romantic genre can be quite good, it is a nice idea to start with Kanon 06 version, then watch Clannad, this is because though both are very funny, both can be very sad and some experience in Kanon may be good before the depressing moments that especialy appear in Clanads sequel Clannad: After Story, they are both masterpeices.

Some over good ones are Zero no Tsukaima, Shakugan no Shana, Toradora! and Hayate no Gotoku each has a simular tsundre character and if you like one you might like the others, but each has its own different merits and especialy Hayate is funny. And if you want maybe Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, I could liken it maybe to the anime version of Family Guy, but is actualy witty, the characters each have some mental problem, and is very good at looking at problems in society and making therological questions.

If you liked Cowboy Bebop, you could check out the creator's other show, Samurai Champloo.

Sengoku Basara is a good anime to watch. Also One Piece and some of the Gundam series are good to watch as well.

An anime movie I liked quite a bit was 'Memories'. It's three short anime films, each directed by a different director. The first film in particular 'Magnetic Rose' blew me away.

If you like Street Fighter, you'll probably like Street Fighter II The Animated Movie as it is one of the best video game movies I've seen.

If you like the martial arts genre, give Baki the Grappler a try. It's one of those animes people either love or hate, but in my opinion, it's worth watching.

Do you like Harry Potter? If so, I would recommend the anime Negima?! Magister Negi Magi to you.

The story is about a 10 year old magic school graduate from Wales, Negi Springfield. As a final test for his mage training, he is sent to Japan to teach at Mahora Academy, an all-girls boarding school. His obectives are twofold: first he must complete his training without being discovered as a wizard. If he is discovered, he will be stripped of his magic and turned into an animal. Secondly, he must find a partner from among the 31 girls in his class to enter into a magic contract with. The magic contract grants the partner magical abilites that can be used to protect Negi in a magic battle.

The original Negima was written by the same guy who wrote Love Hina, and is a romantic comedy with lots of fanservice.
However, there's a new version of Negima out right now that is more of a shonen anime that focuses on magic battles and the contracts between Negi and his partners, as well as the mystery surrounding the magical artifact, the Star Crystal. Both are really enjoyable anime.

I have been watching that one too, I like how it kind of has ties to Alice and Wonderland, I didn't think that I would like it at first with some of its twisted parts, but it is actualy quite enjoyable and has gotten better further on.
