Do people discriminate you at school by treating you differently and/or worse then they would others like themselves?

Personally, I'm hated all the time, In all honesty, I'm just about ready to leave this school, it's a great school, with wonderful staff and such, it's the students here that make this hell on earth, yesterday I lost count of the number of hurtful remarks I've had thrown at me since yesterday, I barley got through a door without being hurt in some way!

Every walk in between and to lessons I got hurled at me "Meathead" "Barry!" (A Word for freak here) etc...

I hate this place so much...I've been here since 2002, and nearly been driven Psychologically insane several times with the sheer hatred I have inside me

And I have to stick another year and a half here too...

I've been lucky. People haven't been discriminating me for my differences.

I have largely deluded myself into seeing peoples different treatment of me as a compliment rather than an insult, but the degree to which i feel for you on all the hurtful remarks. Ohhhhh. If I had as many cuts on my body as I did on my soul I'd be dead in 10 minutes(and at certain points in lower elementary, i would have said it would have skeletonized my body in 3 minutes.)

Sometimes i visualize the pain as jagged cuts in my skin, peeling away from the muscle, and flames escaping. And the tears are everywhere on my body. On my fingers, on my palms, up and down my arms, my face, my cheeks, my back, my legs, my toes, everywhere. I wish the feelings would escape through my hands and body in flames consuming my flesh yet I never burn away. I want to feel the pain, increase the pain, become delirious through the pain until I am spent, and my rage and guilt gone.

- And for those concerned people out there, i'm not suicidal, and i dont engage in self mutilation with razor blades.

Ah, I can identify with the pain. I'm rejected and hated by my intellectual peers-- the prejudiced, cloned ones who can't stand or tolerate any differences in anybody. Unfortunately I grew up with these kinds of people so I'm numb to being so hated. And they're indirect people who won't share their true feelings on any matters, so I have difficulties being honest with them. I appear really sweet and nice when I really hate them. Actually, if I WAS honest with them, I would just beat them up without a word. I am furious at all the injuries they've inflicted on me.

I had a lot of problems in elementary and middle school... well, in middle school I was a sped so that's to be expected. In highschool I started making 'friends' by being the class clown. They aren't really friends, just people who like me. I never see them outside of school or get invited anyplace. Hence I bake squeels.

Reflection, I feel your pain. I go to college and I seem to see a sea of aberconformity and nobody to talk to. Hell, people barely spoke to each other my 1st semester. Now I'm getting whackjobs that startle me because they get a kick out of it. I didn't get this bs at my community college, so why at the 4 yr. level? I'm just grateful that the people in the social work program aren't that nasty.

In public school, until I moved, I was not allowed to go into advanced classes because of my aspie status. I would be harrassed by the teachers until I'd have to leave. It was bad. That's why I hide my aspie status at this college.

I know the feeling, fighting...my AP World History teacher treats me like crap, so I just stick it right back at him, and then reminded him that he's violating the Americans With Disabilities Act by discriminating against me. ;)

But also, I'm Jewish, and the area that I live in...well, let's just say that before he died, Richard Butler, late head of the American Aryan Nations hate group, was living about 35 miles to the east of me. :D It gets pretty interesting at school sometimes.

Yup, beeing different has caused me a lot of problems over the years. (not that I would prefer to be anything else) People used to give me a lot of trouble during my elementary school years. It has gotten better over the years, but it's still almost impossible to avoid a smart remark whenever I'm at school.
I just try to not let it bother me.

I have been bullied for many years now because I am different.

Today I counted 33 projectiles thrown at me, 198 insults, ten well placed kicks and a punch. I just stick it out and tell the teachers and they try to sort it out but it is hard as i am eighteen and they are younger than me

I went through that too. I went through 7 different schools, and most of them were the same way, constant torment for one thing or another. I never figured out what I did to deserve what happened to me and worse, my parents often blamed me for it, even though they would never answer me when I asked what I did that was so horrible.

When I went to college, it actually got better, mainly because the forced socialization isn't as prevalent there as it is in the lower grades. I was allowed to associate with whomever I chose and ignore whomever I wanted nothing to do with, which was what I always wanted.

At work, my boss actually appreciates me for being the way I am, since I'm always at my desk doing my job and not visiting/socializing. It's kind of nice now in some ways.

While this will unlikely be a popular sentiment, I have a suggestion that worked for me:

Fight back.

If they hit you (with a punch or kick) return the favor, but do not strike first. Also, try to do it near a figure of authority. This is especially important if the bullies are larger than you, because you will require the authority figure to quickly stop it.

You will probably get suspended, but it will likely be your only opportunity to get the administration to actually listen to your side of the story.

When I was in the public school system, they did absolutely nothing to stop the bullying until I fought back (even in an incident when I was beaten by a large group and had the bus driver as a witness). When I fought back, it became a "fight", which oddly they do take action about. In the disciplinary office, I was given plenty of time to explain what actions the bully had taken in the past, how it affected me, and why I could no longer tolerate it (make sure that you can answer those questions).

While the bullying continued, it was a lot less since afterward (with the exception of Weston and his gang, who were unphased by it) because random bullies were less willing to take the risk. Even if you cannot physically hurt them, your fighting back means the risk of suspension to them.

I just wish I didn't get so paranoid about the suspension itself, because I had to put up with another bully (Weston, who started the bullying a year earlier) for years after that.

1. Someone called me "gross" today because I was wearing all black.

2. I've been accused of being selfish because I'm sexually interested in both genders.

3. Someone called me a fa***t because I actually like Shakespeare.
Regardless, said person was a straight-F redneck dimrod who can't understand a word of written language, much less great literature.

4. And whenever my shoes come untied or I trip on a staircase at school, there's often a teacher nearby who yells at me.

5. People think I'm stupid because I have trouble with math.

So, yeah, I guess people do discriminate against me because of my differences.

I'm not sure if I can recall anything like this that has happened to me, but I have been teased and taunted because I think differently to everyone else (even though the class knew at the time that I had AS). People thought that it was interesting to see me break down in tears...that's because they're evil sods!

I would report the person to Learning Support in our school because the Head of Learning Support is familiar with AS and if I reported a bully to her they would be explained to in detail about my AS and how things affect me. This happened to someone who was spreading things about me and eventually they stopped.

If there is any serious bullying I would type it up on the computer, print it out and then show it to the teacher. I wouldn't recommend fighting back as this would sadly get you into only more trouble.

Luckily nobody makes fun of me at the moment and I am respected by everyone so I am very happy at the moment.
