Could you folks make it possible for us to embed images in our signatures?

HTML is supposedly allowed in signatures, but I tried to embed an image using HTML, and it never worked.

Heck, I was just trying to get simple HTML to work, and it seems to not be working correct for signatures, as all it did was show the tags like it was regular text in my signature, and I dont think I messed it up, as all I wanted to do is put Abraham Lincoln in Italic, lol
Wrongplanet is getting to be so buggy, would be nice if someone got around to fixing half the problems around here

Why ask this question a day or so after I answered it on your other thread?

I personally really HATE images in signatures... unless there is an option to not see them that is "on" by default ;)

I use a 10", 1024x600 screen. Please don't waste vertical space. A signature of 1 or 2 line is acceptable, more then 4 lines is just wasteful.

The netiquette limit is four lines. WP does allow six lines. I enforce that.

That's a different question.

Though someone else did just ask the same question, and get an answer, in another thread.

I think you should read before you write.

I stated that I had answered this question in Chair's earlier post already. I was asking why Chair had ignored my reply there, and raised the question again.

The thread you link to does not ask the same question at all, but is highlighting bugs. I stated there that disallowing HTML in signatures is entirely intentional.

just wondering then why someone does not change it to say html is NOT allowed then, instead of saying it is alowed and having people like me spending a half hour trying to figure out why I cant get it to work.

Lau, I did read before posting. You linked to a post talking about avatar size. This question is about pictures in signatures. Different topic.

The post I linked to you hadn't replied in at all when I posted. And while it didn't mention photos directly, Keith did note that "editing" (BB code) isn't allowed in signatures, and HTML isn't allowed on the site at all. Which does mean no photos in signatures, even without directly mentioning photos. Thus my linking to it as a thread where the topic of photos in signatures was covered. It was covered as part of a larger topic.

I can read just fine. Photos in signatures and avatar photos are two different things.

But what did you read?

I asked Chair why he had asked this question when I had already answered it for him in his other thread. He has not seen fit to reply to my question.

Yes, I read that. And I also read what you actually answered in that other thread. Thus my reply to you. I posted what I did precisely because I did read before posting.

The question you answered in the other thread and this one both relate to posting photos. But they are still two different questions. There is nothing in your posts in the thread you linked to that relates to images in signatures. It's all about avatar images, or general information on images.

And, as I said, HTML in signatures was addressed, but not by you, and not in response to something he posted.

Ah, you are referring to that last little line.

Claiming the argument in that post applies to why no images and no HTML in signatures doesn't mean that it does apply. It doesn't.

Very strange. In what sense does it not apply?

I believe Lau is trying to say that the signature rules are designed to keep signatures from dominating the page, as are the avatar rules.

What part of that don't you understand?
