There's this funny website I found called translation party where you type in an english phrase and it keeps translating to Japanese and English again and again until it reaches "equilibrium" so you get a very badly translated version of what you just put.

This game is a version of what is known in the world of translators and linguists as a "round-trip translation". Since I'm a translator and know Japanese, I can tell you that the first E>J translation is close to what we call "word salad". Taking that back into English produces very little meaningful. It's all downhill from there, naturally.

Most meaningful utterances do not converge. The translation engines simple parse the input according to a variety of rules and statistical samples, which is good enough for the first translation to remain somewhat intelligible, depending on the intelligibility of the source.
